Poured in to my pilsner glass a dull golden with a nice big, fluffy white head with a nice bead.Aromas of toasted grain a touch of iron with an odd and interesting teaf leaf-like aroma thats subtle but noticable. This is one dry ass pilsner and very crisp, a light spicey/peppery bite hits in the finish very firm dry bready malt backbone stands up to the very dry, spicy finish.Damn fine pilsner my father in law from Hanover,Germany loved it as did I.

Poured crystal clear, golden, with a short-lived white head that left some spotty lacing.

While the light malt dominate the hops in the aroma, the reverse is true of the flavor, with the hops more prominent even in mid-taste.

M: medium+ carbonation; medium body.

O: no flaws but nothing stands out either.

Clear and golden with a decent white head, some retention, and sparse lace. Aroma is full of bready, grainy malt with a little tea, spice, and mild floral hop. Refreshing as expected. Taste is malty, lightly sweet, quite dry, and floral and spicey. A nice mild bitterness is apparent too. Mouthfeel has a good amount of crispness along with some grainy grittiness mixed into the smooth. Mmmm drinkable.

Great pils. One I would like more of.

This one pours a very clear, light straw color. There's nothing particularly special about the color. But, the head is a very impressive foamy white monster that's about three fingers tall. It never completely dissipates and left a sticky web of lace behind. Not bad.

It's a little weak on the nose. Grainy and grassy notes are prominent. It doesn't smell vegetal in any way, which is a very good thing. Hops are noted and are mostly floral and earthy. They're not very strong, but I'm pleased just to report their presence. There's just enough malt to give it a slightly sweet smell. A little more strength might reveal some finer nuances, but it's just not here.

This is a pretty damn tasty Pilsner. Grain and grass flavors start things off nicely. A touch of malt sweetness is noted. The hops are the best aspect of the flavor. They're mostly floral, but there's some spice variety here. Citrus lemon and orange flavors are a little buried, but they're definitely here. It finishes spicy and a little dry. It's pretty straight forward and uncomplicated, but is impressive nonetheless. I like it.

The body is medium and is nearly smooth. Carbonation is active and crisp. The hop spiciness tends to convulate the feel a little toward the end. It's tough to tell just how smooth it really is. Drinkability is above average. I like the flavor pretty well and it's easy drinking. I can't say there's enough here to captivate me for more than one bottle. But, it's far from bad.

Premium Pils is a nice German Pilsner. I wasn't expecting it to be great and it's not. But, it is probably more impressive than I expected. It could use a little work on the nose. More punch is needed there. It's a minor problem, but it's the most notable. Otherwise, it's not too bad and is a nice take on the style overall. It's definitely worth picking up if you bump into it.

On tap at Tap and Table in Emmaus, PA for $5 a pint. Appears a clear, brilliant gold with a white head. The aroma is a little muted, but the lightly toasted grains shine through. The flavor is classic German Pilsner with hard, hard mineral water that tastes like it came from a well. There's just a mild herbal hop note in the background in this otherwise crisp and bready beer. Try this beer if you dig the style and love German brewing water.

Kulmbacher Edelherb Premium Pils brewed by Kulmbacher Brauerei AG, with an ABV 4.90% This brew pours nice amber color, with a nice white head. It has the look of most Pilsener brews on market. Not saying that is a bad thing. The smell of Kulmbacher Edelherb Premium Pils, is rich with malts, grains , and hops. The smell is nice and inviting. Now for the the taste, it is bold with flavors. I like the taste of this brew. You pick up on the hops and malts , in this brew. There is nothing overpowering about Kulmbacher Edelherb Premium Pils , it has a nice balance to it. The mouthfeel of this brew is rich, full bodied, and clean. This is a nice smooth drinking brew. Overall I'm giving Kulmbacher Edelherb Premium Pils a 4.5 out of 5. I would buy this brew again.

Pours a crystal clear straw color with a nice sudsy pure white head. The aroma is of cracker malt and a peppery grassy hop, typical Pils. The taste is primarily of the spicy grassy hops, which gives it a slight metallic twang. There is also a light honey cracker malt to round out the flavor. The feel is light but not watery with moderate carbonation, finishes slightly bitter from the hops. The flavor might not be as spicy/grassy as other German Pils but this has great balance and is extremely drinkable.

12oz bottle poured into a pilsener flute, no freshness date to be seen.

A: Pours a light and clear straw yellow with a rocky bone white head with little to no ropes of carbonation at all. Lacing is there and sticky the initial inch and a half head bubbles down to a thin cap in a minute.

S: Very light grassy aroma and if you think hard enough you can smell a touch of honey in there as well, clean but like water clean, just not much nose on this beer.

T/MF: The taste is better than the smell, creamy mouthfeel lemon and pepper with that same light grassy and sweet dextrose flavor that was apparent in the nose returning in the taste, really tastes much better than the nose leads on, well balanced grassy hop and malt sweetness, only the slightest bit of a drying effect on the palate.

D: I haven't really been a big fan of the pilsener style and it is sort of a shame because I can tell that there are some good ones out there, this beer sort of fits within that category, it is light and clean and well balanced everything a pils should be.

Poured for a 12 oz bottle to a tall Kulmbacher .4L glass, the liquid is yellow-gold with ok carbonation. The head is small and white and leaves very little lace.

The smell is rich and bready like a pizza crust. The hops give it a slight earthy and fruity aroma.

The taste is very good spot on for the style, lots of white bread and a good clean cutting hop.

The mouthfeel is good. A very nice body, close to medium but the carbonation is a bit off. Not flat just to as much as I would look for.

The drinkability is very good a tasty quaff to go with lunch. Prosit. MK

Pours to a beautiful white head that lasts and laces well. Color is light yellow-gold. Aroma is fresh pilsner malt and grassy, floral hops. Flavor is a nice balance of light, sweet malts and soft hop flavor and bitterness. Very easy to quaff. Mouthfeel is on the heavy side but refreshing. Outstanding beer I will buy again.

Pours a clear straw yellow with a small lasting white head. Aroma and taste is of sweet grains, light citrus, hay with some light malt and barley, and mild bitterness. A medium body, crisp with moderate carbonation. Overall a good drinking and refreshing brew.

rich golden liquid, aggressively poured, forms a huge white head that leaves significant lacing. smell is heavily of warm stale bread crust, with hints of lilac and noble hops. taste is rich with lemon zest and cream, buttered toast, spicy hops, floral accents -- a very complex pilsner. refined mouthfeel, but also curiously creamy, as if there is lactose involved.
delicious and highly drinkable.
drinkability has a 4.0 right now, because i wonder if the complexity of the beer would prevent it from being consumed in large quantities on a summer day. i plan on testing this.

Pours clear gold with a two fingered long lasting white head. Plentiful lacings all the way down the glass.
Other than a hint of skunk upon opening the bottle the aroma was floral hops and a whiff of citrus.
Taste is lemon citrus, grassy, some breadiness, and a smooth bitter dry finish from the hops. Not overly sweet.
Mouthfeel is just right for the style.
Drinkability is exceptional if you don't mind the $1.99 per 11.2 ounce bottle. Very nice smooth Pils.

I was surprised to find this at the infamous "Stateline." (What a selection!) Light amber color, rich head that disappated quickly, very mild hop smell and crisp, clean taste. Easily one of my favorite German pilseners. Excellent balance of rich malt flavor. Perhaps I can find a whole case.

Poured from a 5L mini-keg into a pils glass. Clear yellow color, abundant carbonation, and a frothy bright white head and copious lacing.
Clean aroma of sweet malt and pungent herbal hops counterpoint. Nice sweet grain flavor up front which morphed into an herbal spiciness. Hops flavors resonate on the tongue long after each pull is gone. Faint tinge of metal lurking in the finish but not something that was a real problem. Crisp, light-bodied feel.
This German pils was a great quaffer; it went down smoothly and was very refreshing on a warm late-fall day. A worthy brew to bring to a tail-gate party. Recommended.

Poured from the bottle into a pilsner style glass.

Giant head off the pour of big sticky white, nearly four fingers long. Head is very bubble bath and foamy in appearance. Stays for a good long time. Body is a pale light gold to straw yellow color and nicely clear. Tight bubbles of carbonation from the bottom. Very good looking beer.

A very muted but a sweet bouquet. At first it appears corn then is actually a kind of cherry. Clean somewhat arid, and hidden grain behind the smell.

First taste is surprisingly sweet getting almost into honey territory, but is that corn??? Some hop bitter but more of a faint bitter lemon finish and not sour lemon. Almost as if a lemon going bad. Lots of texture for this beer and not very crisp with a good body which is interesting.

Pretty easy drinking and enjoyable, taste could be much improved I think, but it will work.

picked up at the coop over the weekend for about $2.. poured into my small weizen glass..

Rocky 2 finger head.. brew is crystal clear straw gold.

Aroma is pale malts and a pronounced spicy/floral hop nose.. very clean throughout.

Nice bitterness balances the grain perfectly.. husky pils malts and floral hops.. lite body and abundant carbonation.. very nice. Drinkability is fantastic.. pricey for a 12oz but damn near perfect.

I love a well made German Pilsner and this is great.

This was served on tap at the Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a light clear amber, with a half inch head, and little spots of lacing down the glass.

Smells quite fresh and pilsner-y- classic bready malts and grassy hops. Simple but satisfying.

Like most pilsners, this isn't going to super bold, but there's just a lot of great flavor here anyway. Killer grassy hop character, tiny bit floral, and bready, crackery malts. Slightly grainy, but not much.

This is light bodied, with a clean, crisp, and delightful mouthfeel. The carbonation level is normal, and the drinkability is incredibly high.

One of the better classic Pilsners that I've had, this one should be rated higher.

Pours a cloudless straw yellow with an initially thick, creamy white head that leaves some frothy lacing behind as it fades. Smells of flowery noble hops over light grainy malts - delicate and clean. Bitter German hoppiness controls the flavor while sweet malts quietly blend in as does a soft nutty touch. I wouldn't say its especially crisp but it is somewhat drying and suprisingly well rounded. The bitterness lingers for a while.

This is a fine pilsner...seems very authentic. Clean, dry Hallertauer flavor has a nice balance to it - good mouthfeel, and outstanding drinkability. Makes me want to drink more lagers...in fact, I think I will.

Appearence: Pours a golden, straw color with a huge fomay white head. Leaves sheets of lacing. The carbonation is huge, but it moves so slowly it looks the beer is dusty.

Smell: Smell's crisp, clean, and fresh, with huge clove and fruit hints. A great smelling pilsener.

Taste and Mouthfeel: Tastes indcreibly complex for a pilsener. The most interesting tasting pils I've had to date, without sacrficing any crispness. Fruits and cloves and almost pepper are tasted. Feels smooth and crisp in the mouth.

Drinkability and Overall: This is a classic beer. I was lucky enough to find this, and I will hunt it down again. A challengly complex beer that may be harsh to the young palate. But to me, this beer is just about perfect. I'm gonna go kill the keg by myself (just kidding.. but I wish I could). Superb brew.

Kulmbacher Edelherb has a thick, fluffy, off-white head and a clear, bubbly, golden appearance, with minimal lacing. The aroma is full, bready, and sweet. Taste is of sweet, white bread, and cracker, and it has a pleasant hop bitterness across the mid and back sip. The mouthfeel is light to medium, and Kulmbacher Edelherb finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, delightful, and highly drinkable. If there are flaws with this, I’m unaware of them.

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that quickly died down and left some lacing on the surface and a ring of large bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Aromas of sweet bready malts are present in the nose; as the beer warms up some smells of grainy malts also become apparent.
T: Like the smell, the taste has flavors of bready malts with a slight amount of bitterness, except that no grainy malts are noticeable.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a bit smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink and has nice flavors of bready malts but seems like it could use a little more hops.

Poured into a Tucher pilsner glass.

A: Pours a golden champagneish color with 2 fingers of head. Lacing starts as the head slowly dissipates.

S: I really don't know how to describe that "pilsener" smell. Crisp, clean, and sharp sweet scent. White grapes maybe?

T: Tastes just as the smell described. Crisp and refreshing. Clean finish. Very nice example of a pilsener. Would be great on a hot summer day.

M: Very carbopnated and crisp. No real alcohol presence.

D: Got this in the beer of the month shipment. Would love more for summer days. Real easy and smooth drinker.

Poured a light straw hue with a one finger creamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell featured a robust cereal grain with an equally strong noble hop.

The taste consisted of an upfront earthy noble hop spice with a solid and delicious doughy grain background.

The mouthfeel was of medium fullness and creamy.

Overall a well balanced, earthy, spicy pils. Excellent.
