11.2 oz bottle of "malt liqour".

Pours with a bright white quickly dissipating head that looks like soapy bubbles, not good for a pils. On the other side, the color of the beer is spot on.

This one is maltier on the nose than most with herbal, medicinal hops.

The mouthfeel is the most noticeable thing of this brew, it is significantly fuller than most pilseners, and I like it. The taste of this one is also classic pilsener, the hops come out more in the taste though they are perfectly balanced with the malt.

The drinkability is up there, this is a classic German made pils.

Stumbled across this one at Roberts Cafe-Brasserie am Markt in Kulmbach in September 2023, a 15-minute walk from the brewery. I was drinking it in company, so my notes are perfunctory.

L: Golden yellow with a bright white, fluffy head. No carb in the glass.

S: Creamy, biscuity malt.

T: Sweet brioche bread, mild floral bitterness.

M: Prickly on the tongue and swallow, but otherwise smooth and full.

O: A very easy-drinking Pilsner that invites another glass.

Cheers!

Edelherb on the bottle and it is certainly fine and bitter in taste too. It pours very light, clear gold with a nice punchy nose. The only criticism I have is that it finishes slightly over sweet. Decent pilsner nonetheless.

April 2004: (5 liter minikeg, bought in Norway - ABV here is 4.5%). Typical pils golden colour, large head. Hoppy but not very strong aroma. Flavour is surprisingly malty, slightly sweeter and less crisp than the somewhat stronger EKU Pilsner which I prefer (also in a minikeg). Still, this is a rather tasty pilsener, miles ahead of the many tasteless "neutral" pilseners you get these days.

A - Light to medium gold in color with steady cascading bubbles and bright white creamy foam resting on top.

S - Citrus, lemon, earthiness, all with some crackery aroma.

T - Some graham cracker honey malt sweetness underneath with nice earthy, herbally citrus and straw.

M - Big medium body with prickly carbonation.

O - The balance between hops and malt is perfect in this beer.

Clear straw like gold, two finger head that leaves a lacing and constant half finger head throughout, good head retention on this one. Smell is a weak smell of cut grass, hard to gather, taste is bitter, and dry. Feel is ever so slightly sticky. This used to be one of my favourites but now not so sure. A tiny bit on the dry side for my palate but strangely the taste gets wetter as you go along. Not as refreshing as others but a high quality pils.

Look: clear golden and very good clarity
Smell: roasted grain
Taste: absolutely balanced taste. Unlike some other Pilsner it is very smooth, balanced in bitterness and has a robust malty flavor. Even women like it.
Feel: Very refreshing even in summer time.
Overall: My favorite beer - just can't get it all the time

What I like most about this pils is it’s body and sweetness.

Unlike most German pils, which tend to have a more crackery and honey type malt thing going on, this one inclined a bit more toward toasted grain. Get toast, brown sugar, and then the more typical honey and graham notes in there as well. Also the faintest touches of fruit in there as well.

Hops are good, have that characteristic herbal and floral note. Just wish the were the slightest bit more present.

As for the mouthfeel, damn good. Has a slightly more robust flavor than your standard pils, but doesn’t seem to sacrifice on the body, still remarkably smooth, light and refreshing.

Honestly just a well crafted pils all around. The price point for an import is a tad steep, but I think it’s worth it if you’re looking for a refreshing beer that won’t disapoint
