12pz bottle poured into a Pilsner glass.

A: Bright golden color with perfect clarity. Huge Rocky white head retains with the best of them. Clumpy and foamy lacing.

S: Sweet Pilsner malt, dough, toasty grain. Green grass, grape leaves, and spicy herbs.

T: Sweet pilsner malt And a good dose of toasty grain. Some match strike sulfur. Sharp peppery and herbal hop bitterness. Grass clippings. Clean. Mild lemon zest. Earthy/herbal and bitter hop finish.

M: Light in body with softer malt textures. Crisply carbonated.

O: A very good German Pilsner. Hits all the marks for the style. The hop bitterness is ample and at the stronger end of the spectrum for the style. Crisp, clean, drinkable, nice.

Bottled July 2015.
L: Pours clear golden with a lot of small rising bubbles. Thick white head 3 fingers tall.
S: Slight sweet smell with a bit of hops.
T: Tastes also sweet. I found some malts tasting like dough or bread. Slight bitternes.
F: Very light bodied, watery, good carbonation.
O: This is not what i like in beers. It fits company drinking but do not worth it.

it seems the czech style pils is a lot more in vogue among american breweries these days, and has really jumped out in from of the german ones in popularity and availability, so its nice to see a tasty german one on tap. count on jakes in littleton for tasty beers not available real widely. super clear in color, brightly carbonated, sunny yellow in color with a tall and lasting pure white head easily an inch high. it smells and tastes a lot more fresh than a lot of these usually do, maybe thats a keg next to a green bottle thing, but this lacks any oxidation, skunk, or staleness that has steered me away from a lot of the imported lighter beers. i was very surprised by how hoppy this seems to be as well, a leafy bitter vegetal thing going on, short of floral but quite alive. i do not recall quite this level of hops in other german examples of the style, but it makes this unique in its class. its also really smooth with a little more body than others, despite its low abv, just a genuinely satisfying beer by all counts. these are the kind of lagers i like to drink, and id love to see more of this stuff around. close enough to the norms to be old worldy and traditional, but distinct enough to stand out from the crowd. i need this one by the gallon.

Pretty classic pils - arguably premium, even. Pretty perfect choice for a beer on what could end up the hottest day of the year.

A - 330ml to a pint glass. Standard translucent dark golden-yella beer. White head starts at a couple fingers, ends as a thick ring, leaves some decent lace splotches.

S - Big on grains with a lil bit of skunk. Bread crust, bit o herbal hop, some light fruity apple tones. Pretty standard, nothing too remarkable but pretty clean with decent strength.

T - More satisfying here with a definite lemon/spicy Noble hop presence coming through. Light but noticeable hoppage. Solid bread/grains. No skunk here either.

M - Pretty decent feel, smooth and non-watery. Kinda big foamy carbonation but it's kept in check. In true pils form, all-too-easy drinking.

O - Overall it's a nice no-frills pils. Not super clean/fresh, not going for hoppy. Kind of a middle of the road beer, not something I'd particularly reach for but nice to have around.

This was served on tap at the Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a light clear amber, with a half inch head, and little spots of lacing down the glass.

Smells quite fresh and pilsner-y- classic bready malts and grassy hops. Simple but satisfying.

Like most pilsners, this isn't going to super bold, but there's just a lot of great flavor here anyway. Killer grassy hop character, tiny bit floral, and bready, crackery malts. Slightly grainy, but not much.

This is light bodied, with a clean, crisp, and delightful mouthfeel. The carbonation level is normal, and the drinkability is incredibly high.

One of the better classic Pilsners that I've had, this one should be rated higher.

Kulmbacher Edelherb Premium Pils brewed by Kulmbacher Brauerei AG, with an ABV 4.90% This brew pours nice amber color, with a nice white head. It has the look of most Pilsener brews on market. Not saying that is a bad thing. The smell of Kulmbacher Edelherb Premium Pils, is rich with malts, grains , and hops. The smell is nice and inviting. Now for the the taste, it is bold with flavors. I like the taste of this brew. You pick up on the hops and malts , in this brew. There is nothing overpowering about Kulmbacher Edelherb Premium Pils , it has a nice balance to it. The mouthfeel of this brew is rich, full bodied, and clean. This is a nice smooth drinking brew. Overall I'm giving Kulmbacher Edelherb Premium Pils a 4.5 out of 5. I would buy this brew again.

Serving: On tap at Bier Stube in Moline, IL
Served: 1 Jan 2014

Appearance: Pours a straw colored yellow with a minimal half-finger head. If this was in a bigger glass, I'm sure the head would be more substantial. The head is creamy white and leaves some lacing. Looks pretty good.

Smell: Classic 'beer' smell with a touch of biscuit and herbal bitterness.

Taste: Grassy and grainy, with a baguette bitterness. Minimal hop flavor, but mild hop bitterness. Pretty solid for a traditional German pils.

Feel: Lively and effervescent.

Overall: A good example of the style that won't blow you away but shouldn't leave you underwhelmed either.

Pours to a beautiful white head that lasts and laces well. Color is light yellow-gold. Aroma is fresh pilsner malt and grassy, floral hops. Flavor is a nice balance of light, sweet malts and soft hop flavor and bitterness. Very easy to quaff. Mouthfeel is on the heavy side but refreshing. Outstanding beer I will buy again.

Pours a clear straw yellow with a small lasting white head. Aroma and taste is of sweet grains, light citrus, hay with some light malt and barley, and mild bitterness. A medium body, crisp with moderate carbonation. Overall a good drinking and refreshing brew.

S: Complex with a plethora of grains, cereal and grass
T: The flavors match the aromas but aren't quite as complex
M: Light-bodied, crisp with pleasant carbonation
O: Crisp and clean, it's pushing 80 and humid outside and this really hits the spot

11.2 oz bottle was poured into a pilsner glass.

Appearance: This beer poured a one finger head that reduced to a thin layer. It is a golden straw yellow with great clarity and vision of bubbles coming up through the glass. Spotty lacing on the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Pilsner malts, typical lager skunk, grassy hops, and a little sweetness.

Taste: Pilsner malts, toasted grains, grassy hops, mild bitterness, and a little sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Crisp, refreshing, light bodied, a little dry, and medium carbonation.

Pours a clear yellow with a foamy bone head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small patches of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, white grape juice, and grass aromas. Taste is much the same with grain and grass flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and quite refreshing.

Pours bright, gold and crystal clear. Medium-sized white head. Surprisingly good head retention with some decent lacing. The aroma is clean and sweet with fresh barley. Just a little bit of mustiness, possibly from the travel distance/time. It has a simple sugary, doughy flavor. There's a touch of herbal, grassy, spicy hops. It's all very gentle, though. A touch of cider. The taste is similar, though the hops come through more. Moderate sweetness and moderate bitterness. The hops have a spicy, grassy bitterness to them. It fades pretty quickly. Finishes pretty dry. Very easy to drink. Gently effervescent mouthfeel. Quite light. It's not a dramatic beer, but it's solid enough.

330ml bottle, poured into La Chouffe tulip.

A: Pale colour, small head which didn't hang around long, minimal lacing.

S: Hallertau hop, fruity, grassy.

T: Lots of bitterness as title would suggest, notes of bread and grass. Balanced but uncomplex.

M: Crisp, light body, well carbonated, coarse.

O: A decent enough Pils, I think it might be hard to drink more than 2 or 3 because of the bitterness.

Served from the bottle into a pilsner glass

A- Poured a very clear light straw color with a big soapy white head with big bubbles. Lots of visible carbonation and lots of splashy lace

S- Big pilsner malt, floral, grassy, and spicy hop character. Some fruity and lemongrass notes

T- Dominant pilsner malt and grape flavors with grassy, floral, and spicy hops. Some lemon notes and a slightly metallic finish

M- Very refreshing, highly carbonated, dry. What a pilsner should be like

O-Solid pilsner all around from the appearance, mouthfeel, and aroma. The metallic notes on the taste bring it down a little for me though.

A - Very bubbly very yellow pee colored pils. A decent bit of sticky white head and touch of lace.
S - Very inviting it has a smooth grain edge with very floral hops. No skunk detected is lovely.
T - Its a nice bit of premium corn flavors cutting the floral hop bitterness and leaving you with a grainy dry finish.
M - Bubbly like a sparkling cider I had recently. Very light but full of flavor.
Overall 10X better than the pee water we have here in the states. Well worth the price at 10 bucks a six pack.

Smells like a delicious hops bonfire, tastes like clean and crisp grain with floral, earthy German hops, and some smoke, good malt flavor but going completely dry and pretty bitter in the finish, nice stuff.

Interesting new 250 character minimum they have for reviews now...

Poured a brilliant straw gold with two fingers of fluffy white head. Mild, slightly soapy aroma with a hint of grain.

Moderate carbonation and a light mouthfeel. Grainy malt with a hint of sweetness and an assertive bitterness (earthy, grassy) that lingers on the finish.

Full-flavored while remaining crisp, balanced, and refreshing. Very nice.

Served in a mug. There is a half inch foamy head atop a clear straw-golden body. There is really nice sticky lacing.

The aroma has a nice blend of herbal hops and some straw malt.

The taste blends a bready mildly sweet malt flavor with spicy hops that add a bit of tang in the finish. This has a nice smooth flavor leading to a great crisp finish.

This is light bodied with aharp carbonation. I really enjoy this.

Poured crystal clear, golden, with a short-lived white head that left some spotty lacing.

While the light malt dominate the hops in the aroma, the reverse is true of the flavor, with the hops more prominent even in mid-taste.

M: medium+ carbonation; medium body.

O: no flaws but nothing stands out either.

Pours a medium golden color with some fizzy head that fades quickly and doesn't leave lacing either. Smells a little grainy & grassy. Hops are a little too mild, and in general it doesn't leave much on the palate to be savored. It is quite smooth, though, and it is a fine session beer for hipster and/or craft-oriented bar.

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that quickly died down and left some lacing on the surface and a ring of large bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Aromas of sweet bready malts are present in the nose; as the beer warms up some smells of grainy malts also become apparent.
T: Like the smell, the taste has flavors of bready malts with a slight amount of bitterness, except that no grainy malts are noticeable.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a bit smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink and has nice flavors of bready malts but seems like it could use a little more hops.

A: Pours a crystal clear medium golden yellow in color with light amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a quarter finger tall bright white head that reduces to a thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer and a slightly thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate amounts of sweet bready malts and just a hint of floral hops.

T: The flavor of this beer is rather mild with the primary flavor being that of bready malts. There is a moderate amount of bitterness from the floral hops.

M: Light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: This is a very easy to drink, enjoyable, and sessionable pilsener. A little light on the hops for this style.
