Appearance – This one gave off a beautiful white head and the bier was a thick, cloudy dark orange.

Smell – The grain and malts here at the nose work together so well that it's hard to distinguish the two components. There's a light, aromatic sweetness to the nose that gives this KB a wonderful bouquet.

Taste – To me this is the perfect lager. The malty grain flavor is exactly what I think of when I think of German lager. There is a hint of mature sweetness here. It's not sweet like candy or fruit but like the sweetness that you can taste from a carrot or ear of corn only after having abstained from artificial sugars for a week. I can't see any way that you could make this taste better.

Mouthfeel – This is one of the smoothest beers I have ever had from a bottle. It's a bit bigger than light-bodied but not yet medium. It leaves a wonderful aftertaste and is a pleasure to slide around in the mouth.

Drinkability – This is German Keller Bier at its best. You won't find a better sample stateside.

PS: I grilled up some big, fat Italian sausages and some Hungarian, Anaheim, and Thai red peppers with white onions and tossed it all in between a couple split brotchen and used this KB to wash it down. Man that was tasty.

500 ml Bottle with ceramic swing top cap

A: Nice light amber color, cloudy. off-white head that dies down after a minute. Some lacing.

S: Very light malt and yeast scents. Not picking up much hops. Hay.

T: Some malt and oak. Nothing too complex happening here. Straight forward clean flavors. A nice lasting slightly bitter finish.

M: Medium mouthfeel, light carbonation.

O: This is my first experience with a Keller beer. Let me say that I am not a big fan in general of Lagar beers, I really enjoy the complexity of yeasty flavors in ales. So that is why my ratings may seem a little low.

Having said that, this Keller beer did show some character, especially when it warmed up.

appearance: Goldeny Brown with sunshine cloudiness around the edges. A force to be recconded with sans head

smell: Some nice wood spices brings out a hint of Christmas with a bit of nuts

taste: You can really taste a cask like feel on the tongue almost like the barrels are still there in the brew

mouthfeel: A bit weak but then again what do I know. The flavor stays on the tongue but the body leaves quickly

overall: I like it, it was a nice surprise. Someone took some time on this recipe. Not my favorite but I would love this in the winter time.

I purchased this flip-top at State-Line Liquors in Elkton MD, enjoyed chilled in a glass mug.

The color is dark amber with light off white head with hazed appearance in general with tight bead and thick lace collecting. The smell is lots of bready malt with a gentle yeast ester and light hop accent with slight sweetness in the aroma. The feel has a sweetish full feel with moderately high carbonation and light bitterness with semi-sweet finish.

The taste is slightly toasted with lightly spiced flavor from both the hops and yeast with a subtle sweet bready malt balance and yeast creaminess in the taste. There is a mild mineral note with an earthiness of German pilsner malt with mild creamy yeast taste in the finish. Overall I enjoyed this, it is a good lager with nice maltiness but not exceptional -just a good take on the style butt not overly complex

Half litre bottle.

A: Pale amber, hazy, taned head, decent retention and lacing.

S: Cork, yeast, phenol.

T: Malt, brown sugar, charcol, oak, increasing bitterness and the Kulmbacher sharpness.

M: Smooth, silky texture, low carbonation. Had the feel of a well kept cask ale.

O: Very good example of a Keller, does all you expect and a bit more.
