look: 3.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 3 | overall: 3.25

appearance: Amber golden not a bad look especially when I got it from the cheap rack

smell: weakened by age you can get some of the earthy grain smell, reminds me of a fresh plowed spring field

taste: The pronounced bitters fill the mouth first and then you move on to the malts, definately a lager but not a bad one

mouthfeel: Pretty hearty a good beer for spring time in my opinion. I like the brew

overall: A strong and hearty beer that was not disappointing. Personally I would have it if offered but not one I would intentionally buy again.

Comes in a brown swing-top half liter bottle with a dark label - just like in the picture. Purity law applies. Best before 1/22/05, I opened it on 9/25/04.

Pours a clear solid gold under a 1.5 finger snow white head without much body and little staying power. Sweet, slightly ricey nose and a very prickly and light mouth. The taste opens with barley malt and something a bit sweeter, leaving a smooth and fresh impression. A fairly substantial (for the style) hop presence kicks in, giving a good bitter finish and aftertaste. There's a hint of metal to the bitter, but not at all unpleasant. Don't judge a book by its cover, and don't judge this brew by its plain jane appearance. Quite tasty.

This beer is not discontinued. I purchased in just outside of Bamberg last week. Little smell, slightly bitter taste but pleasant taste; relatively well balanced, somewhat harsh mouthfeel in terms of carbonation, not much in the way of lacing or appearance. Overall, this is a decent beer for the price (~10 euro for 20 .5 liter bottles).

The beer pours a light golden color with a lacey white head. The aroma is light with low hopping; a traditional lager smell. The taste is crisp with a dry finish. It is quite light bodied and adequately carbonated. This is a decent lager, but it's not the best I've had. I guess I expected more from a true German style lager. Thank's again to Chris for bringing this one home.

Clear yellow brew with a white head. Little to no lacing.

Smell is almost non existent, although you can catch some bready malts.

Taste is crisp, refreshing and lightly bitter.

Has a nice dry aftertaste. Light body.

In a hot Mexican afternoon, I can have several of these. Not sure if I will but it again, though.

¡Salud!
