The Gore Range Brewery is one of few 'locals' bars' in the Vail Valley--it's hard to have anything for locals when 80% of the homes are unoccupied at any given point in the year--and it makes for a worthwhile visit for not-so-local types as well.

It has a run-of-the-mill ambience for American brewpubs these days--wooden paneling, lots of TVs, and a nice patio. The open kitchen (not attached to the main dining room) is a nice touch as well, but don't expect a diamond in the rough as far as atmosphere goes with this place. It's a fine bar where you can watch playoff basketball and not be distracted.

They keep six of their own beers on tap, and they're more or less the usual suspects in terms of style--stout, amber, pale ale, wheat, pilsner, light honey ale. The stout is excellent (prepare yourself to want at least 2 pitns), and the wheat is fairly refreshing; it would be nice to see these guys expand their selection, get rid of the Budweiser tap, and add some more experimental seasonals.

Their rotisserie chicken and pit barbecue offerings are the special features of the menu, and their mustard BBQ chicken sandwich was tasty, if unextrordinary. In other words, I would happily order it again, but I'm not dying to do so.

Overall, Gore Range is an enjoyable stop for traveling beerflies, and it is the best bet for good beer for folks driving or biking I70 between Copper Mountain and Glenwood Springs.

Went here on a Saturday night and it was packed. I'm guessing it was mostly tourists as it was still ski season. Did a flight and the beers were all solid but not spectacular. Place had a feel like one of those breweries in a mall... maybe slightly better. If in the area I will consider stopping but with so many breweries popping up in Colorado I might look at other places first.

a really neat little place making some damn fine ales. the bar is kind of small, but the eatery area is much larger. maybe 7 beers on, with some very interesting selections. I loved the single hop ipa, but all were pretty solid. good vibe in here, with people from all over the place talking skiing, sports, and brew. got to meet the brewer and tour the facility, 7 barrel system is pretty active, inspired stuff. everyone working was super nice, helpful with the beers, and generous with the freebies. there are maybe 10 breweries between Denver and the Utah border on i70, and I would rank this one near the top in terms of total experience. the beers are dialed and the prices are fair. this is one we will definitely stop back into. the menu looked good, so maybe pop in for dinner next time. highly recommended.

A friendly little place, if not a wildly exciting pub. The atmosphere is nice - like a rustic ski lodge inside, with a big fireplace and views of chickens roasting from the kitchen. There is a nice outside patio as well, though the view isn't so great since the place is in the middle of a fairly sterile shopping center area, so mostly you just look at parking lots. The food is brew pub standard fare, though well done. The beers are good, though unremarkable. This is a good choice if you're out here in this relatively remote area of Colorado and want a basic meal and a beer and don't want to head down the road to the incredibly pricey restaurants of Vail.
