look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.25

It pours a sparkling clear 24k gold with a large head of foam that shrinks slowly.

The nose has notes of sweet malt, grain, with some spicy notes that I guess are from the use of German hops. A bit of booze sneaks through as well.

I get a big burst of sweetness on the first sip followed by big bready notes. The spicy hops comes in with flavours of oranges, not blood oranges mind you ;^) but they add a nice dimension to what I think is a smooth drinking brew. The sweet notes also almost have a honey like quality to them. The bottled on date shows 21/14.

Like I said, this is a smooth drinker and smooth describes the mouthfeel as well. It feels really good in the old yack machine.

Well, overall, I really enjoy drinking this Maibock. Notice I said drinking; yes, I'm still sipping as it does feel a bit stronger than the 7.8% abv that it is. Not a bad way to stretch out a session with a beer I like, eh? (914 characters)

Poured into a balloon glass.

Look: Semi-clear copper body. Light cream colored head with a film of retention. Light spots of watery lacing.

Aroma: Faintly alcoholic with a deep sniff, but otherwise traces of caramel and toffee and sweet malts.

Taste: First of all, for 7.8% this beer is pretty smooth, and the malt sweetness adds to that. There's a faint taste of wood in the finish but not before the caramel and toffee notes do their thing.

Mouthfeel: Pretty smooth considering the ABV, slightly dry.

Overall: A very sweet, clean sipper that goes down smooth. Hinges on being too sweet, but enjoyable all the same. (621 characters)

I poured a bottle into a pilsner glass.

Appearance- Clear, deep golden color with two fingers worth of head. Fair amount of runny lacing.

Smell- Sweet malt and caramel aromas.

Taste- Sweet malt and dough-like flavors with some spicy hop notes at the finish.

Mouthfeel- Medium bodied and smooth.

Overall- A good maibock and very easy to drink. (347 characters)

From a bottle (with an awesome label), pours a cloudy golden color, great carbonation and head that laces the glass. A bit active for this style.

The nose is very malty, apples, floral, candied caramel and sugar. The flavor is sweet, wheat, light malts, faint citrus. The alcohol is really present, making this drink heavy and every bit of its 7.8%.

Overall, pretty good. I don't ever crave this style, but this is an above average interpretation. (453 characters)

A: Poured from a bottle to a mug. Had a light brown color and a slightly hazy consistency. There was an inch of foamy, long-lasting head. OK lacing.

S: A decent aroma that was dominated by malt, with a definite hops presence as well.

T: Tasted of malt, a big shot of spicy hops, and a tinge of caramel in the finish. A pretty solid flavor with a much livelier character than a lot of other maibocks. Not a stunner, but still pretty tasty.

M: A well-carbonated beer with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: In general, this is a well made, easy to drink beer. Very vibrant and drinkable. (589 characters)

On tap in SC.

Very interesting. Certainly one of the most flavorful and complex lagers I've had and, not coincidentally, about the only barrel aged one. Plenty of barrel aging impact but not so much so as to mask some of the underlying lager character. (255 characters)

This beer pours a hazy golden brown and has good carbonation with little head and very little lace. It was poured on draft and has a little bit of an astringent mouth feel the smell is very subtle and the flavor is characteristic of a maibock but not very good. (262 characters)
