11.2oz bottle at share, 2014 vintage. Hazy pale golden pour wit a small bubbly head. Fruity aroma, tart, brett. Taste is grapes, berries, brett funk with some nice oak-y notes.

A very decent sour. The yeast adds nice complexity. More sippable, and a small bottle was enough to give out multiple samples without feeling we missed something exceptional.

Thanks goes out to Bitterbill for this brew.

11.2 oz. Bottle
Brewers' Series
2015 Vintage
No. of Cases Produced: 350
ABV: 8.2%

Probably 3 years on this bottle.

Poured into a Trillium glass a very nice dark cloudy orange color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger white head, which leaves some sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, yeasty, with some nice funkyness, tart/sour, with a nice citrus complex (peach, apricot, green apple), oaky. The taste is really nice, malty, yeasty, with a nice citrus complex (peach, apricot, green apple), nice touch of oak. very nice funk. Medium body, ABV hidden very well, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, a very nice brew. Glad to have gotten a chance to try it. Thanks Bill!

Served probably around 44° as opposed to 40° but what can you do when you have people distracting you and getting in your way? Served in flanged snifter/broad tulip.

Very cloudy peachy apricot orange, with small chunks in suspension. Very fizzy and quickly dissipating head, soda-like but with slightly finer bubbles. Easy to stir up a new head by sloshing it around. Soft, wet lacing that always sinks back into the body. A rubbery funkiness at first, but then moves closer to plain old horse blanket, and maybe a little like Italian cured ham or salami. This is the first sour of any kind I have had that finally had horse blanket as its main aroma, and it’s not anywhere near as disgusting as it first sounds. It’s still in the general category of alcohol/vinegar/fruit. Palate is much the same, rubbery, funky, blankety, but behind all that, a wallop of strong, sharp, diluted white wine vinegar and/or lemon juice and wine-like light fruity notes and almost metallic tannins. You can tease all this out, but the balance is still amazing. Lighter body, about medium, with softer and less effervescent carbonation than fizziness first indicated. A lot of astringency, perfect for the style, leaves me quenching for more although I know my thirst could never be satisfied. This and the sourness do well to hide the heat that 8.5% ABV should otherwise be slamming me with.

A rarity that I purchased in Seattle a few months ago, this oak aged sour ale made the equivalent of 336 cases, so I consider myself lucky to crack a bottle. On to the beer:

At first, the beer looks lifeless, with a short head that dissipates quickly, , a few bubbles running through the body, and a copperish orange color. Smells tart, smells sour, smells fruity. Soft aroma, but packed with excitement.

It tastes much stronger than it looks. Paired with modest and bright carbonation, the beer brings on white wine characters, a touch of oak, modest tartness and lemon, and a slap of alcohol. I even taste a little funk.

Strong, funky, and tart. This beer will wake up your senses.

11.2 fl oz bottle, 2014 vintage. Acquired a single bottle from the local bottle shop, as we just recently acquired a case. Not sure why this took so long to arrive. Brewers' Series No. 01 apparently. "No. of cases produced: 336" "Wheat ale soured with Lactobacillus and aged with Brettanomyces in oak barrels".

Poured into a Duvel tulip snifter.

A - Pours a nice golden orange body, some sediment haze, apt carbonation, and one finger of thin fizzy white head that falls to a ring quickly.

S - Beautiful aroma: huge notes of oak wood, subtle alcohol fumes, notes of white wine, white grape juice, apple / pear, cherry, leather, slightly musty. Very complex stuff.

T - Taste follows the nose: huge tart / sour / funk from the lacto, brett, & the oak aging. Sour apple, white wine, blanc grapes, leather, oak wood. Minor alcohol bite. Lots of white wine / grape / oak flavors here.

M - Smooth, crisp, tart & sour. Semi-dry finish. Very easy-drinking stuff.

Overall, very interesting, complex, and drinkable stuff. Definitely will be interested in trying more like this from Grand Teton. Well done, guys!

330 ml bottle poured into a tulip glass

A: Pours orange with a white head that quickly dissipated. Beer is hazy, not much carbonation, no lacing, has a very nice color.

A: Tart, funk, some oak, wood, green grapes, green apples, smells pretty solid.

T: Very balanced, drinkable, up front sourness, oak, wood, moderate amount of tart flavors in the middle, finish is dry, does have some sweetness to it, green apples and grapes, the oak is present throughout the beer, aftertaste is sour, sweet green fruits lingering.

M: Good amount of carbonation, crisp mouthfeel, dry finish, light bodied.

O: Very tasty, sour, balanced, drinkable and the 8.5% ABV is not even noticeable.

Poured from 330mL bottle into a tulip. A 2014 brew; this bottle has been nicely aged.

Appearance: medium golden hue with a pretty heavy haze and a finger of frothy ivory foam which subsides rather quickly. There is plenty of effervescence, though, which is attractive.

Smell: sweet, fruity, astringent and sour; there's even a tiny bit of funk to it. It's very well balanced and quite enticing; in fact, there's a bit of a candy character here too. I really love it.

Taste: a little bit more funky and sour than the aroma, so it's not quite as balanced. But it's a good classic wild flavor with a bit of grassiness and butteriness thrown in. Not bad at all.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: the flavor doesn't quite deliver on that wonderful aroma, but overall it's quite a good beer.
