Au Naturale Organic Blonde is the newest member of Grand Teton’s mainstay beers, first brewed in 2006. Crafted with organic German malt and hops, it has a clean, smooth character reminiscent of the best European lagers.

For our 20th Anniversary celebration, we’ve traded in the blonde for a redhead while keeping our German roots. Still brewed with all German organic malt and hops, the XX Au Naturale is bigger, maltier—and redder—than the original.

Bottle pour at the bottle share held at Chloe's inside Golden Road Brewing in Los Angeles, CA.

Pours a clear copper with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, caramel, and some slight aromas of oxidation. Taste is much the same with a fruity flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but there are some hints of oxidation in this one.

just popped my 2008 bottle...in May 2012. I sat on this for years since it was the only one I had. Good things come to those who wait.
A- dark cloudy orange. This head went away quickly with not much lacing.
S-I wish I knew what the smell is....but this beer has that smell that I love because it always ends up being a good beer when it smells like that.
T- big malt, small hops, and alcohol. Tasty stuff. Wish I could get some more.

M- not as thick as I would like, but OK.

Overall a pretty good beer. If you still have one sitting around, you might want to get this one out soon.

After battling the wax for five minutes I get the bottle open. It is of all things brownish red in color with a nice foamy white head. The smell is pleasant. There is a strong caramel toffee like flavor a bit of a dry fruity smell as well. The taste is similar to the smell a nice toasty malty sweet flavor. There is a really nice malt profile that goes from sweet to dry. It has almost no hop presence but the malt profile makes up for it. The low natural carbonation makes the beer very smooth and easy to drink even with the big malty profile. Overall, it's a pleasant traditional -not a hop bomb- style red ale.

BIG 1ltr flip top is waxed and made for a shit-show of 2-3 peeps trying to get this damn thing open.

I picked this up a while back at Brewforia (my first time there), Ditmier was there too.. and asked me to open it when he was around.. about time.. seriously.. :-)

Nice deep amber brew with only okay lacing and retention....

Nose is very toasty.. tons of malts and only bits of grassy and some minor citrus hops.

again very toasty.. mild caramel. surprisingly dry at the finish.. a bit tannic? element that I am having a hard time placing.. the malts need more sweetness to push them forward..

The body and carbonation are about perfect.. but the aroma and taste are not there... needs more balance.

I'm glad I got to try this, but I doubt I would again.

Poured from the big wax-coated jug/growler/bottle, whatever you want to call it. It pours a chestnut brown, with some creamy head.

Wow, for a 7.5% red ale, this has a huge aroma. Big on candied figs and dates, sweetbread. Faint hint of smoked meat. Smells like a much bigger beer than it is, like a big-ass doppelbock or something. I'm enjoying this aroma, this is impressive.

Taste follows nose, it's a rather big malty affair, big raisin and dark fruit along with some rum and hint of caramel, chocolate.

Very soft natural carbonation, this has a rich, smooth big-beer feel.

I'm sure this was different when it first came out. Aged, it seems to have some of the characteristics of a doppelbock or even a malty barleywine. I hope to tote the rest of this bottle to a Christmas party so I can share it out, it's rich for one man. In its state now, would pair well with an array of meats and cheeses.

Poured from 1 liter wax sealed bottle into shaker pint glass. Nov 11 2008 is stamped on the cardboard tag that comes draped around the neck of the bottle.
A: Pours a fairly clear red color with 1/2 inch off-white head.
S: Citrus hops, piney spice, and mild fruity malt.
T: Grainy hops and mild caramel malt. Good, but not very complex. Good balance.
M: Nice smooth and slightly oily mouthfeel. Surprisingly good. Coats tongue and palate well.
D: A decently drinkable brew. Good sessionability. ABV is quite well hidden...careful, it will catch up with you (especially if you drink the entire liter!). Nothing special though...would be better paired with food than on its own.

Appearance: Pours a dark reddish brown into my goblet. Rough pour produces only a small head that lingers a bit.

Smell: Fairly modest nose. Toasted malt, a little spiciness... that's about it.

Taste: The taste improves upon the nose. Toasted malt is the primary force, but there's also a little pepper, a little fruitiness. It doesn't all come together quite as much as I'd like, but it's pretty damn good.

Mouthfeel: Just about right. Sometimes I find this style gives me a case of cottonmouth while I'm still drinking it, but I like the way this feels.

Drinkability: The 7.5% ABV is pretty well hidden - you get a little warmth in the chest, but that's about it - so beware. Be forewarned.

Bottle shared by a generous soul at the Brick Store HMoG.

Pours a reddish amber with a small tan head that didn't hang around long and left little lacing.

Smell is pretty tame overall with some light caramel malts and some earthy hops, neither of which stand out too much.

Taste is more of the same with the sweet malts carrying the flavor with hints of spicy hops up front. The finish is more sweet than bitter.

The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

I was a little disappointed with my first beer from Grand Teton as there is not much distinctive about this one. It's a decent beer but I am definitely interested to sample more from this brewery.

Appearance: Pours a hazed, deep reddish body with a thin, bubbly, whitish head.

Smell: Aroma smelling of gently toasted malts, a hint of caramel, some fruitiness, and floral, spicy Noble hops.

Taste: Light caramel over toasted grains with a single pinch of basic table sugar. Light apricot fruitiness. Floral, faintly spicy hops with a mellow bitterness. Small touch of alcohol ushers in the bittersweet finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: A bit of a gaudy presentation for what is a basic, though well-balanced and reasonably enjoyable red. Just glad I wasn't on the wax-removing crew.

this is the next to last installment of my rare beer club membership. lets see how it pans out.

a. pours a dark red with ~3 fingers of off-white canvas-colored head

s. a dirty/earthy/soily mildewed malt aroma. honestly have never smelled any beverage like it. not sure its a good thing.

t. doesn't taste quite as dirty as it smells (when cooled, had one at RT and it tasted just as dirty as it smelled), all malt, a little chocolaty with a little toffee, finishes malty with a slight hop bitterness and maybe some alcohol

m. a fairly thick and hearty mouthfeel (only with the colder temperature consumption, dont remember it being so pleasant at RT).

d. a fairly drinkable beer when properly chilled, alcohol well hidden

this one must be consumed chilled. its almost undrinkable at RT. make sure you're drinking this with a friend, since we're talking almost a liter at 7.6%.

pours a semi-clear burnt auburn with a foamy dirty-beige head, and good lacing.

smell is of roasted caramel, malt, some spice, barley, some sweet fruits.

taste is caramel, toasted walnuts, an organic funk, spice, hops, and some grain.

overall would have scored better if it was not for the organic funk that stays with you after you are done drinking.

Thanks goes out to Bitterbill for this brew.

12oz. Sample Bottle 9 Jul 08

Pours a nice hazy dark golden amber color, nice carbonation, nice little fizzy tan head, with some sticky lacing to follow. The nose is malty, slight hop note, with some spiceyness. The taste is sweet, malty, some hop notes, and some spice. Medium body. Drinkable, this is a pretty tasty brew, another very tasty brew from GT.
