Poured a gorgeous deep red with a nice creamy head. The lacing was excellent. Smell was off big, resinous hops, but was balanced out with some deep malt aroma of burnt sugar and dark fruit. The flavor was similar, although the malt was a little sharper and the hops were slightly more piney. It had some sweetness but not too much, a nice dryish finish that was reminiscent of a DIPA. The mouthfeel was superb, low carb and very silky and smooth. Helped mellow out some of the more abrasive characters in the beer. Overall, this was a delicious beer, I would have no hesitation in getting it again. I heard that it is year-round now, even better!

Bottled on 9/26/13.
Pours a murky dark orange with a foamy orange-tan head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, earth, brown sugar, citrus zest, and herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with earth and herbal hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with very earth forward aromas and flavors.
