Poured from their 12oz bottle...
Appearance - Poured nearly 4 fingers of golden bumpy cumulus head, color of the ale is a gorgeous cloudy warm amber, bright dark golden hilites on the sides of the glass,
Smell - Ooooh, big citrus and tropical smells - ruby grapefruit, mango, papaya, pineapple, and a touch of light carmel.
Taste - Hmm, taste is not like the nose at all actually - there is still cittrus, but the flavor is the pith and peels mentioned in the nose, which is still quite nice - grapefruit pith, tart under-ripe pineapple, tart mango skins. There is just a touch of citrus and malt sweetness, and then there is a load of wonderful floral and meadowy hops, nice! The finish on this has some tart citrus, a touch of breadcrust, and grapefruit & tangerine rind.
Mouthfeel - Almost medium bodied, but still a light and crisp mouthfeel. Carb is medium and provides brightness and some nice edges, perfectly ushering the floral hops and slightly bitter finish - ready for the next sip.
Overall - Really a pleasant surprise here, not overly sweet at all, very drinkable and refreshing. The smell was on the sweet side but the taste was all about the brightness and tartness of citrus and tropical fruits, and a wonderful floral hop profile. Glad I purchased a 6xer, a great beer for a warm summer day.
