Sweetgrass APA is a Pale Ale of distinction! 2009 Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal winner in the American Pale Ale category, this crisp and fragrant beer is hopped and dry-hopped with plenty of Amarillos and Cascades. Try it with any bold, flavorful food to complement its citrusy, resinous spiciness.

I'm surprised this beer doesn't have a better rating. I tried it for the first time 3 months ago while out of town and was happy to find it at a local carryout when I got back home.

An interesting beer, easy to drink, not too rich but plenty of flavor.

poured into an imperial pint from a bottle, a month old

A: hazy pale orange with a 3 finger billowy khaki head
S: Kind of faint, but I get some grapefruit, some pale malt sweetness
T: Mainly grapefruit, tangerine (presumably, the Amarillo hops) but not real juicy...fairly dry. Just a little bit of pleasant bitterness tied in with some faint sweetness. At the end, I get a little soapiness that affects my enjoyment.
M: Medium carbonation, light and smooth mouthful, but enough bitterness to keep it style appropriate.

Overall: There are numerous others out there that I prefer in the style, but considered on its own, this is good and I'd drink it again.
