Howling Wolf Weisse Bier is an unfiltered Bavarian-style Hefeweizen. Brewed with a hearty amount of wheat, this Weissbier pours a light clouded golden color with a generous head. Gently hopped to balance the malt sweetness, Howling Wolf’s flavors and aromas are subtle with a hint of fruit and spice. At 5% alcohol by volume, this light-bodied ale is a refreshing session beer for any time of year.

Poured from a single-serve bottle--born 9/10/15, so about a year old.

Look--Lacks the classic "rocky" head. More of a "fizzy" look.

Smell--Checks the boxes for the style, but that is about it. Banana, coriander, and wheat.

Taste--As expected for an American take, a little out of balance--in this instance, a strange bitterness, with an equally jarring sweet aftertaste.

Mouthfeel--Probably the best aspect of this brew. A nice crisp dry finish.

Overall--I'm a big fan of this brewery, but this isn't my favorite offering. This isn't a "miss" for me by any means, but it isn't their best effort.

Flavor is definitely there, but the appearance is lacking. A good weizen should have a thick, fluffy head. This does not. Aroma and taste are spot on, taste(banana and bubblegum)is a little sweeter than the German native varieties A good effort, but a little ways to go.

Pours - Golden clear huge white head decent lacing.

Smell - Wheat, spices, little bit of banana and clove.

Taste - Slightly bready, little fruity not as much wheat as expected.

Feel - Very light and crisp clean finish, little more carbonation than expected.

Overall - A decent beer, little too much carbonation

Strong chemical/ artificial taste which other reviews have mentioned. Particularly agree with the review by rawfish, it tastes of detergent powder, is over carbonated, and the malt lies dead flat on your tongue, this was one of the first beers I have ever poured out the rest of instead of finishing and I will finish almost anything. particularly disappointing for me because I love wheat beers and always hope to find domestically produced ones that compete with the Belgians and Bavarians, this is NOT one of them.

Underrated. One of the more surprising beers I've had in a while.
