Pours a rich amber color with an off white head. Aroma is grainy and malty with a bit of toast. In the taste, some roast, cocoa nib and nuts. Soft flavors but agreeable. Low bitterness, fairly enjoyable brew. Light to medium body with ample carbonation. Overall, this is a decent porter. It's light but the flavors work with the nutty, cocoa like malts.

Very dark brown in color, this porter offers up a pleasing nose that features scents of chocolate, some coffee, caramel, and roasted malt. The foam looks nice, but it does fall apart in due time and it leaves no lacing.

This porter tastes about the way I expected, based on its aroma. Dominant flavors include roasted malt, some chocolate, toffee, caramel, and a touch of coffee. The coffee flavor is less pronounced than expected, based on the nose. The beer is bittersweet, bouncing back and forth between sweet and bitter with the bitter winning the battle, but only slightly. The body of the beer is medium and creamy.

I love a good porter and this one certainly has many positive qualities. The taste is very pleasing to the palate and its flavor would make it a great companion to a piece of pecan pie or as a dessert all its own. It’s one of the better porters I have tasted in a while and I hope to drink more when I can.

Aroma: Light roasted coffee notes up front. Dark bready malt base. Clean fermentation character. No hop aroma. Good for style.

Appearance: Dark brown pour with shoe leather lacing. Low tan cap that retains well. Lacing noted around the edges of the snifter.

Flavor: Nice dark baker's chocolate notes up front. Light licorice undertones. Moderate Arabica coffee notes as the beer warms. Balance is to the earthy hop bitterness. Finish is clean and dry.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderately high carbonation. A slight creaminess and a little dark grain astringency.

Overall impression: A lovely American Porter. Perfect sipping on a cool spring evening.

A - poured a creamy 1 finger brownish cream head. Dark black for the most part with no visibility except a mahogany color barely showing at the bottom.

S - roasted malt, with a caramel sweetness, brown sugar, chocolate and a little vanilla.

T - roasted malt off the bat then I get the caramel and a molasses taste working very well together. Then a pleasant bitterness

M - medium heavy feel that is creamy yet dry oily silk finish. Carbonation is just right

O - this is my first Diamond bear, and I am not disappointed at all this is easy drinking a quite flavorful. Deffinitely what a Porter is supposed to be. No complaints

Thanks to Dirty25 for sending me this one.

Pours an almost opaque super dark crimson-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, slight vanilla, and char aromas. Taste is much the same with char and cocoa flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that has more emphasis on char over cocoa in the aroma and flavor.
