Sampled on tap at the downtown location while waiting for the train that would whisk me off to Pizza Port to arrive.
Appearance: Clear light honey with a scant white head. Head receded to a slight film after a minute. No lacing.
Smell: Slightly peppery, but mostly grassy noble hop-type aroma. Faint whiff of floral honey sweetness.
Taste: Lightly sweet honey-like grainy malts. Very faint grassy noble hops on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Faint and ephemeral. Clean finish.
Drinkability: Rather easy to finish. Very clean and crisp. I like my kolsch's a titch dryer and hoppier. Sessionable and a good crossover beer. Not in the least bit hoppy, though (especially by San Diego standards).
