Decent beer from Karl Strauss. Light amber color with a thin head. Aroma of malt and citra hops. Sweet malt with a hop aftertaste of citrus and grass. Pretty balanced for an IPA although didn't quite have the kick like some other SD IPA's. Still a good beer I'd get again.

Growler into a pint glass, the Tower 10 pours a clear amberish golden. Carbonation is a bit light but one never knows with a growler really. Does develop a cap and drop off some scattered lacing. Offers nice clarity.
Touch of subtle caramel on the nose along with a nice hop presence. Lightly piney and with some background citrus. Not too earthy and more like a thin tangerine at times and a bit spicy through the foam when first poured.
Favor is a bit thin relative to the aroma with pale malts and just a hint of spice on the back. Offers a decent carbonation yet there is a lack of supportive bitterness on the close. Offers a nice hoppy aroma initially, getting subdued with time. Touch of citric bitterness on the close is brief and lacks any malt depth. Average to perhaps a slightly thin feel. A smooth and hoppy pale ale for my palette, well done yet cautious....But then this is a beer for the masses, and not for the die hard IPA seeker..

A - A mixture between honey and amber in color. Decent, white one finger head that actually took a while to settle down leaving some legs on the glass.
S - Very floral, and kind of a tropical sweetness to it. Doesn't smell like a hop blast as there are a good amount of malts lingering around.
T - Pretty bitter without having much flavor in the way of hops. Surprised the hops aren't as fruity/sweet as the beer smells. Lots of malts on the back end, almost finishes like a pilsner. After taste lingers around for a while, which isn't that great.
M - Medium bodied with an impressive amount of carbonation. I actually wish more breweries would have this much carbonation in their IPA's.
O - Just an ok beer. For an IPA the price is right, but could really benefit from adding a little citrus or pine into the mix.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy orange-tan head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, citrus zest, and alcohol. Taste is much the same with a slight herbal hop finish. There is a mild hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is easy to drink and pretty tasty.

Appearance - Pours a clear, bright golden orange with a good finger width head, good retention and a resulting thin, sticky lace.
Smell - Aromas are sweet bready malt and with some citric hoppiness.
Taste - Starts with a thick, bready malt character, then a citrus hop kicks in swiftly. The finish is clean and quick, with a hint of caramel in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, with a smooth mouthfeel. Average carbonation. Goes down easy.
Overall - This is a pretty good IPA. Nothing mind blowing, but nothing to turn one's nose at, all the same. No off-putting characteristics, and it's certainly not an aggressive IPA, but it's got a nice balance; a classic IPA lost in the current hop bomb world.
