A - Pours a golden colour, thin layer of head with no retention or lacing.

S - Sweet corn and bready malts, hints of grassy notes and a metallic finish.

T - Flavour is mild, sweet corn and grassy notes with a heavy bready flavour that lingers alongside a skunky finish.

M - Medium bodied, prickly and wet.

O - Mild flavoured, easy drinking, but reminiscent of any widely available macro. Needs a flavour boost, but still tasty nonetheless.

Sleeman Lager….on tap at the hotel bar at the Mont-Royal Omni in Montreal.

Appearance-poured into a tall 20 oz, vibrant yellow color with a large white head, the head is massive but does settle down quickly into the glass.

Smell-grainy and light, whiffs of rice and light alcohol buzz. Not bad, but I’ve smelled it all before.

Taste/Mouthfeel-adjunct flavor all the way through, but the taste is balanced and I enjoyed the smoothness that came with the flavors. Light mouthfeel, grain picks up first and then it’s largely clean. Ends with a touch of alcohol, and then one last hit of grain.

Overall-I can understand the dislike of the beer, but for an adjunct lager it wasn’t bad for me, in fact on a hot day in Montreal it tasted great. Still, won’t set the world on fire.

Bottle:

Been trying to avoid this one but buddy brings some over for the CFL game.

Pours a clear pale gold, small fast vanishing cap, heavy carbonation poor lacing.

Very faint odor of stale cereals and wet cardboard.

Taste is bland, more of a watery stale mealy taste rather than fresh sweet malt, hops are non existant, fast clean uneventful finish.

I may have gotten a stale dated bottle but frankly I can't find the interest to get another for a re-taste.

I have to admit to having a certain fondness for Sleeman brews as they were one of the ones I started on when I was a young BA. I didn't realize at the time that I wasn't supposed to and came to like them. I realize at this point with a, IMO, more refined palate that this is mostly nostalgia.

A-Pours a golden straw colour with a very shortlived head.

S-Not much here. Grassy smell with some and I say some yeasty type smells coming through.

T-Bready not much hopiness to speak of, slight malt flavouring.

M-Typical of a 5% beer but did get a little watery as the glass wore on.

D-Honestly I could drink these baby's all day on a hot day, but would probably thirst for a better tasting beer. I will probably still buy it when I can't think of what to buy as I often do with this and the Original Dark(which is IMO actually kinda nice). Too pricy to be lawnmower beer.

Courtesy of TheHammer, thanks Marky. Pours a light golden straw colour with a one finger white head after a fairly agressive pour. Little retention and no lacing. Skunky smell with some grassy hops and a hint of malt. Skunky, vegetal like taste that finishes of dry with a touch of hops. Carbonation wasnt really to my liking, but it's typical for this style of beer. Drinkability is decent for this lager, but nothing better than any of the other american adjuncts im use to drinking.

I would say I am a fan of Sleeman products, but not this one. It would be great on a hot summer's day but that's about it. There's nothing that sticks out about this beer besides the price.

Appearance - Comes in a clear glass bottle, with the logo worked into the glass. Nice clear golden color with a nice thumb worth of head, with plenty of signs of carbonation that sustain it decently but not excessively. Barely any lacing whatsoever though.

Smell - Definite grassy hop smell with a breadlike scent and a touch of malt and something I just can't place. Somewhat subdued though.

Taste - Has a yeast and barely taste that is smooth and refreshing but it ends with some dry hoppy bitterness with a hint of grass. There isn't anything here pushing the envelope, but it is good for what it is, a beer for all seasons and drinkers, casual or otherwise.

Mouthfeel - Carbonation is fairly good, and goes down very smooth. Only downside is a bit of a dry bitter aftertaste, but thankfully doesn't seem to strengthen very much as you continue to drink it and does not linger.

Drinkability - Refreshing and light bodied, and surprisingly not very gassy given the carbonation. Doesn't seem to cause any kinda of bloating whatsoever. If it wasn't for the aftertaste, it would rank higher.

Final Thoughts - Had I known this beer existed in my younger years, I probably would not have drank so much Molson Canadian. Pretty much it's a solid macro beer, but is much more drinkable and refreshing. That being said, this beer isn't going to knock your socks off by any means.

Poured a 341-ml bottle into tulip beer glass.

Appearance - nice pale gold colour, thin sustaining head, plenty of carbonation.

Smell - very grassy, veggie bordering on skunky - definitely a Sleeman product.

Taste - nicely balanced, hoppy bitterness but overall pretty dry.

Mouthfeel - smooth, not as prickly as the Cream Ale product.

Drinkability - I can put away quite a few of these but my wife always comments on the bouquet of this beer and it ain't one she likes!

Well we have another sleeman offering here, this beer comes off as a blonde lager, with a euro pale lager after taste. Its a hard beer to categorize, but im going to say its a blonde lager. (Similar, but not the same as Brick's Red Baron)

I purchased a 12 pack, enclosed box to avoid skunking, 12 oz clear bottle. Had a nice looking green neck sticker.

Appearance - Nice. I liked the nice pale golden color. Very inviting, the clear bottle was a good choice, but then again all sleeman beer is in a white bottle.

Smell - Not very inviting, had alot of off smells, skunky. Just overall not very good.

Taste - Now this is a cut above your average macro lager. It had a nice smooth taste, crisp finish. Had a cool little European flavor too it, its hard to describe, its just smooth, flavorful, and crisp. No off tastes, and no skunk flavors, at which i was shocked at considering what it smelled like.

Mouthfeel - Very nice. Definitely a cut above your average macro. Full, and satisfying.

Drinkability - Awesome. It has a very refreshing taste, and goes down like velvet in the summer heat. After every sip, it leaves you wanting more. Just perfect for the summer heat, or for a nice bbq on the deck.

Overall id say, this is a great beer, although its a bit high in price, its definitely something i will buy again. I'm very pleased with this beer, try it and you maybe surprised!

Got to try all kinds of Sleeman beers thx to the variety pk of 4 different kinds.Kinda liked this one at first but after a few,,,umm not really that great, drinkable, but nothing special at all.
Pours a clear pale yellow with a bubbly white head of decent duration and mild lacing.
Aroma is that of a wet damp day with trace of corn, wet grass.
Taste is thin, lite corn with some mild bitterness and lite skunk aftertaste.
Mouthfeel is thin and watery, goes down rather easy and can be consumed in mass quantities if you like this type of beer's flavor.

341 ml clear bottle.

A- pale golden yellow. A few particles floating in it. Decent white head. A few streams of bubbles rising in the beer. Head doesn,t last but it does stick to the glass a bit.

S- Skunked. Grassy-straw hops just noticeable. Grape finish.

T- Slightly sour middle. Hint of skunk. Weak. OK flash of bitterness. Bitter hops level well balanced with the rest. Grainy aftertaste. I didn't like the flavour.

MF- Drying. Crisp. Leaves just a little pastiness in the mouth.

D- Not exactly hard to drink. Even decent as a thirst quencher. But I couldn't enjoy it due to off smell and taste. A fresher bottle may have gotten a better rating.

Poured into a 12 oz glass. A fairly vigorous pour yielded a 1", bone-white head that hung around for about 30 seconds, then faded quicker than the Maple Leafs Stanley Cup hopes. Typical lager yellow in color. Had a semi-sweet grassy aroma, with a disturbing hint of cooked cabbage. Taste wise I must say was average at best. Some sharp and fairly bitter hop tends to dominate whatever malt may be in the brew. Some difinite cooked veggie aftertaste as well. Mouthfeel tends toward a watery start and a medium bodied finish. A very average lager, but then so is Stella Artois and I gave it a very similar score because IMO it tasted almost the same.

Sleeman's Silver Creek Lager pours a stiff loose head over tea colored
brew. Carbonation is slow but steady, leaving a ring of foam. The nose
is light barley malt and lager yeast. The flavor is nothing special- thin,
slightly tart malt finished with a suggestion of grassy hops. Also thin was
the mouthfeel. It's a good lawnmower beer for sure, but at a premium price.
Another factor is the clear glass- I was lucky, but you might be skunked!

One of four selections in the Sleeman Selections 12 pack.
Comes in the Sleeman signature clear bottle, green and silver neck label. Color is pale yellow, vigoroous pour gave an inch of white foam. Lots of carbonation keeps the head around and leaves some thin lace. Smell of wet grass with some sweet corn thrown in. Just a touch of "Sleeman clear bottle skunk" hiding in the background. Macro lager taste, corn, grainy, and alcohol come through. Overall very plain and average.

I've had a couple of bottle of this and the aroma has varied some between the bottles. At its best some have had a nice European hoppy character (like Saaz). Others are kinda' flat and non-descript.
Water clear, bright white ehad. Active carbonation for your viewing pleasure, I guess. Gold yellow.
Malty clean with a fairly intense bitterness, esp. at finish.
This can be off-putting at times (but it varies) but at it's worse it's too intense and not enjoyable in taste.
Feel is clean, crisp with a biting carbonation of fine bubbles. Not too thin. This part is okay.
Standard N. Am. lager with a few better than average features, but too much variability between bottles.

Pale yellow, pale even for a lager. Half a centimetre of white head. Lots of active carbonation visible in the glass, and the carbonation seems to be creating pretty good head retention. Lacing sticks as well.

The smell starts out awful and improves to bad. Strong skunk mixed with a strange sweetness at first. Skunk fades some, and mixes in with sweet corn and a grassiness. Nothing good in here.

Taste is possibly worse. Starts out with that sweet corn flavour and goes into the skunk and dry grass. Slight solvent alcohol flavour in there as well.

Mouthfeel is alright. Fizzy, but for the style it really isn't bad.

This isn't a good beer. I doubt I will finish.

Didn't enjoy this one at all - to the point that i didn't finish it. Too much corn, a hint of the skunk, unpleasantly fizzy. Golden yellow in colour, headless like the horseman. Grainy nose, thin bodied, bitter metallic finish.

Just not worth the bother across the board.

I didn't really care for this offering from Sleeman. Poured out to a medium golden color with a 1/2 inch head of foam that quickly disappeared. Little bit of lacing. Aromas of adjunct and stale corn, and maybe some malt. Taste was the same; watery malt and grain, a touch of corn, no hops noted though. This was not a well made lager. Mouthfeel was very watery, not alot going on. Drinkability isn't up to par. I'd have another if it were free, but other than that, count me out.

Remarkably average. Pours with a very slight haze. Nice bit of head on the pour, but that dissapates to nothing quickly. Very little aroma, maybe a bit yeasty and grassy. Flavor is okay, slightly sour, yeasty, and bready. Little hop bitterness. I would probably have a hard time blindly telling between this and Bud...well maybe it is not that bad. I really like Sleeman's heavy grade bottles. Clear bottles are okay since they ship six packs in fully covering cardboard cases. At least they care about the taste. For the price, this beer is only okay. However, you can pick up a sixer of a local Michigan pale ale for the same price.
