A- This has a coppery tone to it and is clear in general, with a slight chill haze. There isn't much of a head upon pouring, but what remains, sticks around, however thin and filmy it is. It seems to be well carbonated, with plenty of steadily rising columns of fizz. Lacing is actually very reasonable, with many small patches of foam clinging to the side of the glass....these do eventually slide back into the brew, leaving behind a watery patchwork of liquid in its wake.

S- Strong malt aromas are dominant....quite caramel like and perhaps a dose of milk chocolate; cozy and inviting! There is a slightly boozy quality on the nose as well to help finish this one out....there is very little in terms of hop bitterness to be found.

T- Well the alcohol shows itself rather quickly, followed immediately by the hop bitterness, which was lacking earlier. The sweetness of the malt is much more subdued than I would have thought, and takes on much more of a roasted barley/Earthy flavor. The flavors, and in particular, the bittering hops, linger for some time on the palate.

M- Somewhat creamy on the palate, yet this is fully carbonated! I find this to have an oily presence that coats my mouth as well and helps to keep the flavors around beyond the swallow. Body is medium-light.

O- Overall, this is a drinkable beer, that I find gets better as time passes. While not my favorite, there is some flavor, some body and decent aromas. I think Sleeman is on the right track and can have a very decent Bock with some further refinement.....just a little on the rough side, but I've had worse!

Poured from bottle. Caramel aroma. Appearance is a clear amber with off-white head. A light bitter taste. Medium body, creamy texture, and average carbonation. Overall it is ok, better than many of the other mass produced beers.

341 mL bottle from the LCBO which came as part of a Sleeman Selections six-pack; bottled April 2 2014. I'm definitely curious to try Sleeman's interpretation of a bock, as I've developed a bit of a fondness for this style (and its variants) over the past few months. Served well-chilled, and poured into a mug.

Pours a lovely ruby-amber colour, topped with one finger of off-white froth that steadily recedes into a dense, creamy cap and collar. Looks fine, and the aroma is definitely to-style but generally muted - grainy malts, caramel and golden raisin notes come through as it warms.

Quite malty, with a pronounced caramel sweetness maintaining its presence throughout the sip. A little fruity at first, with suggestions of the raisins mentioned previously, but toward the finish it takes on a more herbal, grassy note. Presumably derived from the hops, it provides some much-needed bitterness at the finish. The caramel finally weakens and fades in the aftertaste, which is a little tinny. Light-bodied; kind of thin and a little watery, with moderate carbonation that is suitable for the style. This is quite easy to drink for 6%, but that's mostly due to the fact that there's nothing to this one at all, offensive or enticing.

Final Grade: 3.1, a C+. Nothing about Sleeman Bock is really standing out for me. It's a relatively clean-tasting, strong macro lager that I might drink again in a pinch, but probably wouldn't seek out. I like this more than the other two beers in this particular sampler, but that's not really saying much because the IPA and Silver Creek Lager are both forgettable. This one is at least decent, serviceable, and enjoyable to drink - so I guess, give it a shot. Or don't. Whatever.

Purchased from LCBO in summer sampler pack.
Nice deep amber colour and good 1 finger foam and light lacing. A steady stream of bubbles throughout. Relatively crisp on the mouth with a lingering on the sides and back of the tongue.
Not as strong of a bock as I was expecting but enjoyed as a lighter, refreshing version. Would not go out of my way to purchase again but would never turn one down either.

Has this beer on tap at "The Pour House" in Windsor, Ontario. It was in a stein that I was able to keep after drinking the beer. It has a light golden color and foamy white head. It has a very average taste, especially for a bock. Its very light in the mouth and not as drinkable as other bocks I've had.

Cheers!

Bottle fresh from the brewery.

Pours a orange-amber lager in the glass with a respectable 1 finger white cap, fair retention and lacing.

Light aromas of caramel and cereals a light woody mustiness.

Thinnish body, with a modest caramel malt spine.

The herbal-woodyness of the Hallertaus is hidden below the malt profile until they show up in the quick lightly drying finish. Not cloying, malty, with a slightly dry finish

- has bock characteristics but a tad thin for the style. Very approachable and sessionable but this is not what I look for in a bock. I like strength, but this makes a nice sipping heller bock with nachos.

Pours a clear gold. Decent off-white head.

Not much smell. Slight DMS, some noble hops, and a tart sort of malt flavour. Nothing to write home about.

Taste is about the same. Just no character to this beer at all. Decent bittering and a nice noble hop zing up front, but that quickly fades to a slightly tart malt flavour, laced with veggie DMS. Slight caramelly sweetness. Really, there's nothing special here.

Mouthfeel - medium. Slightly watery. Again, nothing to recommend about it.

Drinkability - meh, it's bland and inoffensive. Boring. You don't miss it when it's gone.

Overall, it sort of reminds me of Boston Lager from sam adams, just not quite as good overall, and notably vegetal.
