Tried this one last week while landscaping at my girlfriends parents house.

Poured into a pint glass. It looks like you would expect it to, clear and brown, only reddish when held into the sun. A soft, half finger of off white colored head sits on top with terrible retention and leaves behind no lacing. A lively carbonation keeps things moving.

The aroma is...Grain Belt? I swear, in a blind smelling test I don't know if I could tell the difference. Ok, maybe this one is slightly more malty, and slightly sweeter? I was expecting some more hops or something, but meh.

The taste is the same as Grain Belt also. I get corn and other adjuncts. Sweet and malty, just a little maltier than Grain Belt.

Mouthfeel is thin and crisp, with a high carbonation. Drinkability is probably it's best quality, as this was rather refreshing and easy drinking on a hot, spring day filled with lots of heavy lifting and manual labor.

Was expecting something a little different at first, but the more I thought about it, this is pretty much what I should have expected. Not bad, but nothing special.

Thanks to swalden28 for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a yellow-orange color with a white head. The aroma doesn't have much going on other than a heavy dose of grain and sweet malt. The flavor is very similar, with grain and a little bit of fruit, which I can't really identify. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Fairly straightforward and not offensive, but something I cared too much for.

Serving glass: Poured from tap into Pint glass.

Appearance: Burnished amber with just a light head and not much lacing.

Smell: Light caramel malts - not much else.

Taste: Just barely sweet caramel grainy malts are the highlight, with a very, very light hop finish. Not much complexity, but appreciate the lower sweetness.

Feel: Moderate carbonation, surprisingly ample smooth body for a low abv lager.

Drinkability: Maybe not much going on, but it is well constructed and easy to kick back. Better than the standard Grain Belt.

A-Clear with amber color and tan head with a thin lace that hangs on for the duration.
S-Malty aroma with a little alcohol bite.
T-This is where Nordeast shines-Great balance if you like slightly toasted malt, a little heavy on the malt but it works well. Just a kiss of the hops.
M-Medium body. Nice.
D-This is an easy drinker-keeps you wanting more.

Overall-Amazing how much better Nordeast is vs Grain Belt's premium lager. The few times I've had this on tap it's been a little better (Cleaner taste with more robust mouthfeel) than in the bottle. A great alternative to the large scale lagers.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass.

Appearance: Clear amber reddish brown with a tint of orange and lots of bubbles. Solid two and a half finger off white head with very good retention and moderate lacing.

Smell: Sweet aroma of grains and caramel malts with a bit of corn. Light hints of earthy hops lingering. Mostly malts.

Taste: Big kick of sweet caramel malts that have a toasty quality. Good amount of grains throughout with a light hint of hop bitterness in the end. Starts very sweet but balances out towards the finish.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Very crisp and smooth. Creamy.

Overall: A solid and easy drinking red lager. Sweet and fairly balanced.

Served cold in a clear glass bottle.

Lightly redish brown color with good clarity and head.

Aroma is malty sweet, a little nutty, no hops.

Flavor reminds me of New Castle with similar sweetness, caramel brown ale base with very little bitterness. Nuts and forces with a little roasty malt character.

Mouthfeel is smooth but would be better with lower carbonation, maybe on tap.

Overall a solid dark lager and a nice easy- drinking Minnesota throw-back beer.

Grabbed a 12-pack at Surdyk's today (4/7/2010), the first day this beer was released in Northeast Minneapolis only (will be everywhere else soon).

Poured from clear bottle into standard pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a nice clear deep amber color with a two-finger beige foamy head. Left some nice sticky lacing behind as it receded. Recdeded quickly to a frothy cap.

Smell: Not much to the smell but subtle sweet malts and just a faint hint of hops behind all the malt. Smells like a mild and maltier Adjunct Lager.

Taste: Better than it smells, more flavor than a Grain Belt Premium. This one hits you up front with sweet malts and just a hint of subtle bitterness, followed by a smooth finish with a faint taste of hops. Low ABV (4.7) and very little alcohol in the taste. This one is better cold and starts to taste a little medicinal as it warms, so keep it cold and drink it cold!

Mouth Feel: Crisp and a good carbonation to it. I liked it better with less carbonation out of a glass than I did when I drank it straight from the bottle.

Drinkability: A good simple American Amber beer that will appeal to the casual beer drinker and to some craft beer drinkers as well. It probably won't win many awards (other than clever targeted marketing), but it's a decent beer that is a nice homage to my little NE Minneapolis neighborhood. I know I will probably be drinking plenty more of this in the future at local watering holes.
