A: 2.5 finger off white head with a very nice texture up top. Pretty clear deep golden amber with lots of active carbonation. Could be a little....redder? Head isn't sticking around very long though.

S: Smell isn't much different from a pale lager IMO. Little grainy, little sweet. Not terribly strong, which also means not terribly offensive. Not what I would consider pleasant, but alright for the style.

T: Again, grainy, but actually quite refreshing. I could see this becoming a summer favorite for after working. A craft drinkers lawnmower beer. There's notes of caramel, but I could use more. Maybe a slight bitterness, weather that's from hops or not I am unsure.

M: Lighter, but not Lite, good carbonation, very refreshing. Maybe a hair too light for an Amber Lager, but overall, very nice.

D: This is right up there with the most "drinkable" American Adjunct Lagers, even though as far as I know it's all malt. I would say to me it's quite a bit more drinkable, but even regular Joe Six-pack BMC drinker should find it so.

Nordeast. Named after the neighborhood I live in, so I am a little predisposed to like it. Even accounting for bias, this is a winner.

This is a workhorse, a utility infielder. This brew fits a lot of different scenarios - I really like it in a food pairing situation, especially with a savory (but not actually spicy) dish like churrasco.

It's also good in a session scenario - fishing, having a couple while working in the yard, shooting the breeze on your deck.

To my taste, it's very similar to a Yuengling; smooth, some malt character up front that doesn't linger - perhaps a bit sweet on the finish.

For the price, a very solid beer and one that you can offer to more timid beer drinkers as a chance to have something with a bit of character. I know a couple guys who won't drink anything darker than lemonade who love this stuff.

Grain Belt Nordeast is a great beer from a company that is typically known for making beer on par with Budweiser and Miller. This beer is far more robust and flavorful and I enjoy it.

A - typical for a red amber lager

S - complex and not overpowering in too many of its characteristics. Hops are there.

T - Very pleasant and a bit watery but compared to its peers of amber lagers, it gives a bit more flavor and depth. Hops are apparent but not overwhelming. Aftertaste is pleasant.

M - No complaints. Average with a bit of bitterness.

D - Very drinkable. Smooth with just a touch of roughness

This is a substantial improvement over Grain Belt Premium because it has more flavor and character. It is not a craft beer so don't expect the crafted experience. My take is that if you want a routine "drinkin' beer", this is better than the rest.

Sampling right now on 5/16/14, but had this one in the past.Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a flute glass.

Pours a pretty dark amber with a thin off-white head that leaves a good amount of sticky lacing when sipped. Not much of a smell actually, just some malt and floral. The taste is lightly sweet upfront but isn't over done at all with a little dry finish from the malt. Just the right amount of carbonation and a very easy drinking brew. Has a clean crisp taste that is very enjoyable! Really like this one.
