This beer is my go-to beer, especially for the price. It is great all year round, but especially refreshing in the summertime. I love it paired with a good grillout/tailgate experience. It is not one of the best beers I have had, but is a tasty, reliable beer for your money.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into pint glass.

Appearance: pours a 1"+ off white head that slowly falls leaving some nice lacing on the glass. Color is a clear amber with mild streaming carbonation.

Aroma: toasted barley malt dominates the aroma, other than that, it is fairly mild.

Mouthfeel: light and frothy with a somewhat dry finish.

Flavor: toasted bread crust, some corn, raisin, maybe a hint of hops in the finish.

Overall: decent but pedestrian.

Nordeast. Named after the neighborhood I live in, so I am a little predisposed to like it. Even accounting for bias, this is a winner.

This is a workhorse, a utility infielder. This brew fits a lot of different scenarios - I really like it in a food pairing situation, especially with a savory (but not actually spicy) dish like churrasco.

It's also good in a session scenario - fishing, having a couple while working in the yard, shooting the breeze on your deck.

To my taste, it's very similar to a Yuengling; smooth, some malt character up front that doesn't linger - perhaps a bit sweet on the finish.

For the price, a very solid beer and one that you can offer to more timid beer drinkers as a chance to have something with a bit of character. I know a couple guys who won't drink anything darker than lemonade who love this stuff.

Appearance (4) - beautiful head that stays. Sticky lacing.

Smell (3.25) - toasted grains, barley malt, musty day-old citrus. A little bit of corn. The weak point of this brew.

Taste (4) - Flavorful and smooth. Great aftertaste. Really nice beer. Has notes of wheat, tangerine, vanilla cream, and barley. A little bit of kidney bean. Again, aftertaste and finish is great.

Mouthfeel (4) - just as it should be. A moderate bite with a smooth underbelly. Finishes dry.

Overall (4.13) - This beer is one of my favorites and absolutely without a doubt my favorite red beer. Beats Killian's Red, Flat Tire (heh heh), and even Schell's Dark. Those are three highly regarded beers around the area and Nordeast slays them all with an axe and a fire-breathing dragon. Normally I'd give the overall an average of all 4 scores, which would be roughly 3.8 or so. But I am more likely to try a new beer if it is in the "good" category or above. You need to try this beer. So I upped the rating - I gave it a "4.13". Why? Because the beer is better than "okay". It's damn good. Plus, it's readily available. Give it a try.
