This beer is my go-to beer, especially for the price. It is great all year round, but especially refreshing in the summertime. I love it paired with a good grillout/tailgate experience. It is not one of the best beers I have had, but is a tasty, reliable beer for your money.

My old standby. Cheap but awesome. Almost no head even when poured hard, but what a robust, refreshing taste, and the color is something to admire. Almost as good room-temp from the bottle as it is cold from a glass.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into pint glass.

Appearance: pours a 1"+ off white head that slowly falls leaving some nice lacing on the glass. Color is a clear amber with mild streaming carbonation.

Aroma: toasted barley malt dominates the aroma, other than that, it is fairly mild.

Mouthfeel: light and frothy with a somewhat dry finish.

Flavor: toasted bread crust, some corn, raisin, maybe a hint of hops in the finish.

Overall: decent but pedestrian.

Nordeast. Named after the neighborhood I live in, so I am a little predisposed to like it. Even accounting for bias, this is a winner.

This is a workhorse, a utility infielder. This brew fits a lot of different scenarios - I really like it in a food pairing situation, especially with a savory (but not actually spicy) dish like churrasco.

It's also good in a session scenario - fishing, having a couple while working in the yard, shooting the breeze on your deck.

To my taste, it's very similar to a Yuengling; smooth, some malt character up front that doesn't linger - perhaps a bit sweet on the finish.

For the price, a very solid beer and one that you can offer to more timid beer drinkers as a chance to have something with a bit of character. I know a couple guys who won't drink anything darker than lemonade who love this stuff.

Re-review 9/22/14.

Appearance (4) : Fluffy, billowy three finger head atop a honey-caramel body. Opacity is about 70%.

Smell (4.25) - Fresh barley, toasted grains and/or toasted bread, wheat, a little citrus spice. Overall a very toasty, baked bread smell.

Taste (5) - An easy drinker. No off notes, no bad flavors. Just a good, creamy amber beer. Heavy on the toasted grains, some wheat, and a hint of orange and tomato. This remains the king of ambers for me.

Mouthfeel (4) - Smooth, dry, and lightly carbonated. Ends brisk and crisp.

Overall (4.44) : If you haven't tried Nordeast, go and buy some. This is by far one of the smoothest ambers out there, and is my favorite by a nose or two. You can drink them fast and they have great flavor, time after time. It is by far in my top five for clean and easy drinking beers with exceptional flavor. It's not easy folks, but Nordeast nails it.
