This is one of the best hot-weather pilsener style beers available. The only problem is that it's not available currently in the United States. But in it's native Sevilla, Spain, it makes the hot summers bearable, and the warm springs and autumns pleasant. The beer is a classic pilsener, more like a Czech than a German copycat. Beautiful golden clear color with a slight head that laces well. It has a nice subtle malt nose that leads into a malty palate followed up by a perfectly crisp hop finish. The mouthfeel makes it drinkable, with moderate thickness and carbonation. This is a good session beer in hot weather.

This is a great beer. When visiting a friend in Spain I made sure to buy a litre of it for lunch everyday. Keep in mind, that's the kind of beer it is. It's a nicely done pilsner, slightly sour but very balanced -- Great for the hot spainish weather. Don't expect to be blown away by the intense flavour, just drink it for what it is: an everyday beer. Think 'mexican beer', but then add quality german brewing techniques to it and a happy fat mascot.

Malty, pleasant, solid.

Cruzcampo. Man that brings me back. I spent 1.5 years in Spain, and this was what was on tap (or in bottles if you wanted to look cool) in the bars. In the bigger cities like Sevilla, expect to pay 1 - 1.25€ for a glass. Small towns, I often paid less than 1€. Generally it's given to you in the same sized glass. But you can specify a larger serving if you wish (una jarra in the south; "un doble" in Valencia for example).

It's a fizzy yellow lager. What more do you need to say? Everyone and their mother drinks it. I remember walking home in near 40 degree (Celsius) temperatures, and hitting a small bar near my home for one or two of these at the end of the day. While it's not a great beer, it will always have a place in my heart from my time living in Spain. Resist the urge to be a snob and call it Cruzasco (if you speak Spanish, you'll get it).

Light taste, light color, light beer. This beer does come with sweet malt flavor, which at least gives you flavor. I drank it very cold at a nice tapas bar and enjoyed it with my food. Maybe it was the cheese and ham I was eating it with, but I enjoyed it. No hops flavor at all, but the beer was still enjoyable.

This bottle came to me from France via my girlfriend. What a nice lady. The label also indicates that this is brewed by Heineken Spain and has an ABV of 5%.

Here's a pilsener beer that pours perfectly clear golden-yellow, not nearly as pale a yellow as American versions such as Bud etc. There is a nice head that forms at first to leave plenty of tracings behind.

There is a familiar light malt character on the nose, but also something metallic. This is a little odd.

The flavor has the light malt and decent hop bite of a continental pilsener. The flavor is mostly crisp and clean, and fairly refreshing at that. However there is a little carryover of the metallic element from the nose that keeps the flavor from being anything more than mostly average.

This is a fairly decent, drinkable beer as far as European pilseners go, much less Spanish beer. I only wish that metallic issue could have been addressed somehow.

A nice beer for a hot day in Spain and a great complement for siesta.
A: A nice pils that has a very light straw color.

S: Smells of some hops and malts, but a weak smell

T: A fairly standard pils flavor that is slightly maltier and yeastier than some others.

M: Leaves something to be desired. Fairly watery and weak.

D: A beer that you could drink a lot of on a hot day. A nice amount of carbonation that allows the beer to be very refreshing.

available darn near everywhere in spain, including for free in our barcelona hotel mini-bar

appearance: pale golden, minimal head, no retention

smell: nothingness mixed with light malts and saaz-like hops

taste: crisp and clean, but lacking any sort of flavour outside of generic bland hops and grain

mouthfeel: light and watery

drinkability: easy, but boring

330 ml light brown bottle.

A- Pale gold yellow. Smallish pure white head. Very clear. Good bubbliness. Leaves some lacing on the glass.

S- Basic euro-lager. Pale malt witha touch of grassy hops. Maybe a faint hint of skunk. Very weak altogether.

T- OK grassy-herbal hops. Touch of grain husk. Enough hops to give it some taste. Mild bitter aftertaste. An OK if unexceptional and kind of boring euro lager.

MF- A little over carbonated. Crisp refreshing lager, but a little too harsh.

D- Very easy-drinking bland lager. Ranks alongside the standard european macros.

A - Golden straw colour poured into a pils glass with virtually no head even with a hard verticle pour towards the end. Lots of carbonation bubbles constantl rising to the top.
S - Some grainy notes and a bit of cooked vegie.
T - Like the smell but theres also a sort of sweet taste that reminds me of those fake teeth or strawberry & cream lollies.
M - Lightish body & fairly high carbonation.
D - Not something I'd drink often if at all but I'm sure it would go down a treat on a hot summers day in Spain.
