Pours an effervescent mahogany with a pinky of mocha colored head. Viscious look, alright lacing & head retention

S: Near zero nose, one of the biggest draw backs of nitro. A little dark fruit& booze sneaks in

Dark chocolate, dates & a touch of licorice up front. Booze & a bit of vanilla as this warms, some caramel & some more dates & charred grain. Finishes boozey, with dark fruit & a bit of charred grain with much dryness

MF: Medium bodied, smooth carbonation

Drinks better than the unleaded version, but not one I would buy again. Too many other good ones out there

12oz bottle poured hard into pint glass.

Appearance: like with the BA Old Rasputin, this has that really cool effect with the tan head, with small bubbles near the black beer and big ones near the top. As the head dies down, there is some lacing along the side. Plenty of bubbles just hanging out on the side of the glass.

Smell: A little bit of chocolate, a little bit of sweetness. Not close to overpowering.

Taste: sweet, more like a milk stout. Some chocolate notes. For something that's over 10%, there's no alcohol taste to note.

Mouthfeel: a little sticky, thicker, full bodied.

Overall: pretty good for sure. Wasn't sure what to expect from this given the wide ranging reviews here. Glad I tried it.

Serving glass: Poured forcefully from nitro bottle into Nonic Pint.

Appearance: Jet black with lovely, tan, nitro head.

Smell: Dark fruits, molasses, chocolate and light coffee. Good aroma for a nitro beer.

Taste: Nice mix of dark fruits (such as figs), molasses, licorice, chocolate and coffee. The hops are kept to a minimum, but there is a slight bite on the finish from the roasted malts.

Feel: Silky and smooth without the standard carbonated feel. Lighter than most Imperial Stouts, but still some heft. Basically, it feels like a nitro beer.

Overall: Extremely impressive that Left Hand is able to make a Nitro Imperial Stout in a bottle. Really good stuff. I would love it if other brewers did this. Nitro Yeti? Nitro Ten Fidy? Nitro Expedition? Yes, please.

Poured into snifter; black with a slowly rising head of classic nitro bubbles that create a minimal half-finger head the color of irish cream that sticks around.
Smells of dark roasted malt, chocolate and coffee, with slight hints of dark fruit and sweetness.
Taste is so smooth thanks to the nitro...it's like dark chocolate espresso, with hints of dark fruit and vanilla. Glorious.
Mouthfeel is wet, full and smooth thanks to the nitro. Works really well with the flavors.
Overall, I really enjoy the nitro version of this beer. I don't remember much about the regular version, or if I've even had it, but this one is awesome. It's an imperial stout that drinks like a milk stout, but isn't cloying.

12 oz nitro bottle. Seemed to pour a bit flat but a durable, thick and creamy tan head arose shortly.
Full, creamy feel Nutty, dark roasted malt aroma. Rich roasted flavor, with hints of coffee and licorice and a negligible burnt aspect. Excellent bitter/sweet mix.
O: Excellent.

a - Pours jet black into tulip glass with 1/2 in -1 1/2 inch depending on the quality of the pour. Follow the directions on the bottle (ignore your instincts to pour at 45 deg) and pour straight down.

s - Smells of coffee and dark roasted malts

t- Initial flavor of coffee and roasted malts with notes of licorice upfront and dark cherries on the back of the palate. Lingering, pleasant alcohol warmth, very tasty.

m - Very smooth creamy mouthfeel. Medium-heavy bodied with low carbonation.

o -Complex yet defined flavor profile. If you drink the entire four pack, you will as the name implies, wake up dead.
Serving type: Bottle

Poured into a nonic pint from a 12 ounce nitro bottle.

A- Beautiful cascading results from the aggressive pour. A thick, milkshake-like head forms and retains itself well. The body is pitch black. 4.5

S- There's lots of booze on the nose, but also a strong aroma of oatmeal, vanilla and toffee and hints of chocolate. There's some barrel aroma there too. 4.25

T- Barrel flavor continues, as does the booze, but the vanilla and toffee do too. Dark chocolate adds another layer of flavor. 3.75

M- Smooth and creamy for the most part, the booze level undoes some of this beer's greatness. 3.75

O- Many great qualities shine here, but the booziness is a bit hard to ignore. This is a good beer, really good, but only could get to excellent with age that apparently won't work due to the nitrogen. 4
