Serving glass: Poured forcefully from nitro bottle into Nonic Pint.

Appearance: Jet black with lovely, tan, nitro head.

Smell: Strong roasted aroma, with chocolate, char, coffee, smoke and molasses. Stronger than expected.

Taste: The taste is pretty much identical to the aroma described above, but a little bit muted. There is some milk-like sweetness at the end.

Feel: Extremely creamy. Obvious lack of carbonation, but that is the point. The body is very light; it could be decried as thin but the creaminess more than makes up for it.

Overall: This is a perfect substitute for Guinness Draught. You know, for when you desire something better. This is pretty damn good overall, even if the taste is definitely on the light side.

A - Black. Thick, creamy, khaki colored head, about 1 finger. Remember to pour hard or there will be very little head to this beer.

S - First thing that hits my nose is milk/lactose. Then a bit of chocolate comes in followed by oats. There is a creaminess to the nose.

T - Milk is the first tasting note to come out. A bit of coffee flavor to the malt without any real bitterness. Slight hint of oats. A bit of toffee as well.

M - Very smooth and creamy. Very viscous. The beer lingers on the back of the tongue (not necessarily the flavor, but the beer itself).

O - Very good. Flavors are a bit challenging to find, other than the lactose, but they are there. Very good feel in the mouth. Seems to cover every square inch of the mouth which results in a nice creamy finish. Not dry at all.

12oz bottle from my local liquor store who just started stocking it, and poured into my beer glass.
Very dark, non-translucent black color. Poured very thick and smooth. Almost no head, just a faint cover of foam that didn't really dissipate at all, but hung around, lacing the top of the stout.
Delicious smell of chocolate, with tones of toffee, coffee, and malt
Taste- rich and creamy dark and milk chocolate. An almost cola-like undertone, along with some toffee essences. It's a lightly sweet bitterness. Not much aftertaste, it disappears from your mouth fairly quickly. I wish it would have hung around a little longer.
Mouthfeel- fabulous. Very rich and thick and creamy, while at the same time feeling light enough that I could drink a lot of this. Very light carbonation.
This is one of my favorite beers, and I'm so glad I was able to find it this weekend. Planning on drinking this one many more times!

12 oz. bottle picked up in Port Huron; no apparent freshness info. Served slightly chilled.

An aggressive pour yields a glass filled with an opaque, black-coloured liquid, topped with just over one finger's worth of dense, creamy, light beige-coloured head. Very nice retention, with gobs of sticky lacing - an attractive stout for sure. The aroma is rich and enticing, with notes of roasted malt, cocoa, mocha coffee and toffee. Nothing too fancy, but miles ahead of most of the nitro beers I've tried previously, which typically have very bland, subdued aromas.

Rich and creamy are the words of the day as far as this beer goes. The sip is initially dominated by a combination of milk chocolate, mocha and lactose sweetness, with a touch of roasted malts and toffee/caramel. Bittersweet finish, with a lingering milk sugar sweetness. Medium-bodied, with the sort of silky-smooth mouthfeel you'd expect from a nitro beer. The taste is definitely approachable, but it's so god damn sweet that I can't see myself wanting more than a bottle of this at a time.

Final Grade: 4.08, a solid A-. Left Hand has produced an exceptionally high-quality milk stout here. It's a little too saccharine to be something I'd consume on a regular basis, but to be fair this is not one of my preferred styles to begin with. It's still a tasty little beer that is well worth a try if you're curious, although I doubt it's very popular amongst the diabetic demographic.

Poured 12 oz bottle into standard pint glass after a two course campground meal. This is a nearly black stout with almost zero head and minimal lace. There's lots of coffee and chocolate in the nose. Taste is nice - sweet smooth malt with tons of coffee flavor and some chocolate, just a hint of roast, but nothing brisk or sharp at all. Mouthfeel is smooth with low carbonation and a chocolate milk-like texture. This is overall a good after dinner dessert beer that would also stand up fairly well on it's own.

Appearance: I love the dark black color of this beer. One of the darkest colors I have seen, even for a stout. Probably just me not pouring it hard enough into the glass, but there was little to no head, which I found disappointing. Smell: Wonderful. Notes of milk and mocha/espresso. Taste/mouthfeel: Exceptional. I personally love milk stouts, and this reminded me of my all-time favorite beer, Odell Lugene. Very smooth taste with strong coffee notes. In general, the taste is lacking a bit for me, I found myself wanting more flavor than I got. The aftertaste is quite pleasant; I could easily drink this beer all night long with no problem. Occasionally, I taste a sharp alcohol note (usually upon the initial sip), but it disappears quickly. Overall, a wonderful milk stout that I will purchase again.

The rough pour and cascading nitro effect is pretty awesome, it's nice that they came up with the Nitro bottles without having to add a widget to the bottle that's American creativity.

Looks to be nearly pitch black in the glass, creamy texture tan head fine even layers of lacing.

Aromatics offer up creamy dark chocolate notes, with the lactose additions creamed coffee, dark roasted malts all blend nicely on the nose.

Flavor is a continuation of what Left Hand Milk stout always provided one of the best cream stouts in the country that was widely available. You could definitely have this with breakfast they need a coffee spiked version. Dark chocolate notes, caramelized sugars, oatmeal additions add a great texture to this milk stout. Creamy milk sugar finish with a bit of a mineral water character.

Mouthfeel is creamy nitro bottles make it that much more light and airy on the palate, silky smooth with each sip no harsh bitterness a bit of herbal hops just minimally make an impact on the palate, medium bodied no evident alcohol I'm surprised to see this is 6% abv.

Overall very tasty and with the new nitro bottles I could picture myself buying more of this stuff, if readily available.

Poured a gorgeous deep black with a two finger tan head that stuck around and left abundant lacing. Nice nitro cascade and bubbles throughout. Very good looking stout. Scents of milk chocolate, roast malt, cocoa and slight black coffee. A very nice aroma, quite chocolate-forward and sweet, but with the darker stout aromas present as well. Very nice. Flavor begins with sweet milk chocolate, mingled with roast malt and bitter-sweet cocoa flavors, moving into a more pronounced hit of roast malt, with some cream and black coffee. Finish is dry, with flavors of bitter-sweet cocoa, roast malt and cream. Aftertaste is bitter roast malt and cocoa powder. A very nice flavor, rich and creamy with big hits of chocolate, yet balanced by roasted and bitter flavors nicely. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, smooth and creamy with a modest prickly carbonation. Very smooth and easy to drink, quite nice. Overall this is a great milk stout. It's not too sweet, not too bitter, finding a nice balance in-between. It has a rich aroma and great mouthfeel that aid its very good flavor profile. Very well done.
