Presentation: 12 oz bottle into a nonic. "Bottled On:" spot is conspicuously blank.
A- Deep copper / amber and clear. Pours with 2+ fingers of creamy tan head, which fades slowly to a solid cap.
S- Bready, slightly caramel malts, and mineral odors.
T- Quite roasty, with a lightly charred coffee like flavor. Vague tea-and caramel sweetness. Very feint hints of wet cardboard. Sweetness is minimal. Charcoal bitterness is fairly pronounced.
M- Moderate carbonation with a fairly thin/light feel. Some mild astringency.
D- Fair. Flavor and nose didn't really come together for me enough to want more than one of this.
Future outlook: Mediocre. Not a huge brown ale fan, but perhaps this bottle was past it's unknown prime, so perhaps I'll give it another go someday...

Brown, auburn, copper colors, 1/5" off white head. Mixture of river wood, toffee and tobacco. Brown malt they say.
Nuttiness and earthiness in the taste profile. Chewy mouthfeel. Body approaching porter levels. Mildly hopped, this goes for the English brown style. Dark fruit in the mouthfeel in a small way.
Not a bad beer, but also a style people don't get jazzed up about so easy to see why its no longer around.
