Poured aggressively from a 12oz. bottle into a pint glass. There's an area on the label that says "Bottled on:", but the date is missing. This wasn't at my supply store 2 days ago, so it's likely fresh from the distributor.
A: Red-orange amber, neither light nor dark, very clear and nicely filtered. 1 finger of white head dissipates rather quickly and leaves little to no lacing - knocked a point off for this.
S: Smells hoppy, notes of pine, some kind of citrus (orange?), I wasn't picking a lot up on the nose, the scent is very light. Needs a little dry hopping to fix that up a bit.
T: The flavor is very nice, by far the best aspect of this beer. The pine notes in the nose had me worried it might end up tasting like pine sap, which is something that turns me off about IPAs. Starts off with citrus and a small amount of pine, then quickly dries up in the finish with some hop. I want to say the citrus is orange peel here, but I'm not sure. Might be some malts in there to balance out the hops a little, but if there are, I'm not really picking up on them too much.
M: This one is a little higher on the carbonation, feels a tad watery, light bodied, very dry.
O: Not a bad beer at all. This is the first beer I've tried from this brewery, coming from a sampler pack with 4 styles in total. A solid ESB for sure, and hopheads will love it, so it definitely fits in that niche nicely. I don't think I'd seek this beer out myself, but I am going to enjoy all 3 bottles of it with pleasure.

Nitro bottle, Best By 05/08/14
L - very rigorous pour, as indicated on cap and label, reveals a copper colored ale with a smooth ivory head that eventually rises to half a finger
S - very herbal aroma, caramel, vanilla and bread are all faintly present
T - bread, caramel, vanilla, herbal hop,
F - extra smooth feel, medium body, goes down easily
O - I'm not sure which I prefer (regular Sawtooth or Nitro Sawtooth), but this one is definitely unique. Glad to try it.
