Polestar Pilsner pours to a clear, pale straw/yellowish color with a good amount of foam that leaves broken lace on the sides of the glass as you consume. The nose on this beer is similar to what you expect in a pilsner beer, with grassy/spicy hops dominating along with a touch of sulfur.
Tasting Polestar Pilsner reveals flavors of biscuit malt, bread, a touch of lemon, and grains. The hops make themselves known in the finish, adding a nice degree of balance with their grassy and herbal notes. The beer is crisp, clear, and clean all the way through.
Among the qualities of Polestar Pilsner, the ones I find most memorable are the crispness and cleanness. The carbonation is just right and the crisp, refreshing qualities make this a good pilsner for a warm summer day. The balance is also quite good, with the hops providing a good bittering edge in the finish that lingers on in the aftertaste.
Pilsners are a popular beer style the world over and Left Hand Brewing Polestar Pilsner is one of the better I have sampled. There is a certain sulfur- like quality in the nose that some may not like, but I found it more than tolerable and the overall taste is generally smooth and very drinkable. It is a fine pilsner beer that most fans of the style will find to their liking.
