Slightly hazy, straw colored (just like hay should be), a heavy handed pour produced a 3/4" head, fair retention, fair lacing. Smell is a little grassy but mostly spice..a little ginger, a little clove. Taste is pronounced clove , a little bitterness on the finish. Crisp mouthfeel and very good drinkability.

A tasty and refreshing one. Would make a very good summer refresher.

Poures a slightly hazy...well hay/straw color with a white one finger head that leaves pretty quickly leaving no lace behind, nice lemony aroma very effervescent with just a light wheaty undertone.Wow this beer suprises me a little not just a run of the mill American wheat ale here nice big wheat malt profile very sturdy but not heavy in the mouth, soft lemony tones round this out very nicely just enough to make you not think about the "dreaded" lemon wedge.Could be one of the better American wheat beers out there wich might not be saying much but this is very good.

Serving date: 2009-04-16. Served in hefeweizen glass.

A: Yellow color, orange hues. Uneven haze in the liquid. Big white creamy head that settles just a little too fast. Some chunky lacings.

S: Mostly fruity - bananas, orange peel and peach. Wheat and white bread. Faint spices.

T: A rather week taste. Mostly sweet with some bananas and oranges. Plenty of wheat flavors and toast. Slightly spicy in the middle (cloves, white pepper). The finish is short, minimally bitter and has some spices, minerals and grassy hops.

M: Moderate body, low carbonation that could have been slightly more aggressive.

D: An average beer. It smells and tastes okay. Easy to drink, but it falls short compared to the many great German beers of similar styles.

12 oz bottle. Pours a very murky yellow brown with a fine white head that retains and laces the glass.

The aroma is wheat, banana and cloves.

The flavor is sweet bready malts and lots of banana with some citrus and light spices. The mouthfeel is medium with sharp carbonation and slightly watery.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. It is a light and unadventurous hefe, but it is decent.

Appearance: cloudy yellow orange, decent carbonation

Smell: orange, vanilla, bananas, and cloves

Taste: orange, vanilla, bananas, and cloves

Mouthfeel: very smooth, light, slightly crisp aftertaste

Drinkability: This is a very good example of the sytle. I could definately session this in the summer

The beer pours a slightly golden orange color with a large white head. The aroma is wheat, flowers, sugar, butter and some honey. The flavor is butter and sugar, along with some wheat, flowery hops and vanilla. Very interesting, but a little bit buttery and too sweet. Medium mouthfeel and high, prickly carbonation. Not sure if this bottle is off or not, but it is not up to Left Hand's usual standards.

12oz brown bottle poured into a tall wheat glass.

Cloudy, pale golden color,2" froathy white head with fair retention and bits of lacing. Large yeast chunks at the bottom of the bottle some were very dark looking almost black.

Very clean aromas, fruity. Slight to faint aromas of bannana and clove with some bready/yeastyness also present.

Clean taste, slightly sour, touch of fruityness with some hints of apriocot and faint bannana with some citrusy note at the finish. Not the typical tastes i would favor and expect in a wheat beer.

Light mouthfeel,on the watery sied with some light tangyness. Was just lacking the characteristics of would want in a wheat beer. Nothing offensive at all, just not enough of anything.

12oz bottle dated 8/1/07, part of a Left Hand sampler twelve pack. It pours a slightly hazy dull yellow. The white head is a little weak and doesn't stick around for very long.

The aroma is very yeasty, along with ginger, clove, and little lemon zest. The flavor follows, along with some banana and a slightly soapy finish.

The mouth is light and the carbonation lacks a little. It's not really complex, but has enough going on to make it flavorful. It's very drinkable. It's awright.

Picked up a single at Green's on Ponce in Atlanta.

Pours a cloudy yellow-orange color with a one-finger white head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving not much lacing.

Smells like a hefeweizen more than anything - lots of bananas with sweet malt and just a hint of grassiness.

Tastes similar to how it smells, though the banana isn't as strong. Still, dried banana flavors are most pronounced, with a bit of grassiness at the end that lingers for a while after the sip.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with a good amount of carbonation that makes this go down smoothly.

Drinkability is good. I had no problem finishing one and would certainly consider having another.

Overall this is a solid beer, though I'm not sure how well it fits in as a wheat beer. Better than I expected, and worth a shot.

(Served in a short Weizen glass)

A-This beer has a hazy caramel yellow colored body with a thin white head the dissipates quickly. Three is a strong carbonation of tiny bubbles that race to the top.

S- The soft yeasty note has hints of banana and clove that increase as the beer warms. The soft note of banana bread and soft bubble gum finish the beer.

T- The soft wheat hint has a nice clove note that finishes with a slight tartness

M- This beer has a medium-light mouthfeel with a big fizzy finish that cleans off the tongue

D- This beer has a nice aroma and taste but the fizz starts to drowned everything out after it warms a tad.

It's about a medium yellow-gold in color and pretty clear. There may be a touch of haziness but it's not close to cloudy by any means. A small white head grows to just under a finger tall and diminishes in time to a solid foam that leaves spotty lacing.
The smell offers what I expect from a wheat, though rather than being plainly American it seems to have a lot in common with a hefeweizen; that is, the Belgian yeast strain. The nose gives up the banana, clove and bubble gum along with a bit of dustiness I would expect not from a purely American offering but a Belgian.
The taste follows suit but is a little weaker somehow. It seems to fade off at some point. it's also different in that it's fruitier and tangier than the aroma, not letting things mingle nicely but sort of mashing it all together. It's not bad, just unfinished.
I don't expect a big body, but it could have a little more to it. the carbonation's at a good level but the crispness goes spritzy, but it works fairly well and there's a nice smoothness there too.

Purchased the other day from the Foodery in Philly. The beer poured a very hazy deeper colored gold with a thick bubbly white head. Reminds me of a Duvel pour so I served it in a Duvel glass..to myself. This beer has fantastic lacing with a crisp, citrusy aroma. The taste was is of citrus, maybe some banana and definite wheat tons and a bit of spice. The body is light and refreshing and easy to drink but not overly complex. This would make for a good summertime beer so I will have to keep that in mind for the coming months.

Consistently soft white head one-inch head settles nicely on an attractive orange-brown body--definitely unfilteredas apparent when swishing the bottle's sediment...bright, soft wheat scents with a bit of fruit as well... clean, almost elusive in mouth and throat--not like a hefe... slighty effervescent and medium-bodied...smooth wheats abound and dominate...light malt and little hop to the glass...tickles the tongue in a playful manner... as hefes go, not outstanding but not flawed in any majorly detectable way either... a solid player in a Left Hand sampler....

12 oz. bottle stamped bottled on 4.26.06. Poured into an Aventinus weizen glass.

Appearance: I swirled and poured the yeast, so there's a lovely haze going on without being so unfiltered-looking you can't see through it. Sappy, drippy patterned tears of lacing are slowly left around the top of the bulb, and the head fades fairly fast but still leaves some around the top, enough to have a visual white point of reference.

Smell: Bread and cookie flavors come first, with some yeast, highly sweet wheat aromas, some banana, and some heavy cream.

Taste: Again, the cookie like flavors, maybe from the yeast, come through, with the too subdued flavors of banana, yeastiness, bread crust, vanilla, and lemon. This has the potential to be awesome, but it's way too slight all around, minus the balance, as the finish doesn't end up too sweet, which I also like.

Mouthfeel: Slightly watery as I expected it to be a bit creamier with a bit more carbonation.

Drinkability: Not something I'd buy a 6-pack of probably, but I'd drink it again. It's not that it's not a balanced brew, it just seems a little safe and subdued to me and doesn't really take that extra step that a domestic needs to catch up to the real deals.

A - almost no head with a pretty vigorous pour. Reached about a finger before quickly dissipating into nothingness. A tiny ring is present around the outside of the glass.

S - banana clove and coriander... A metallic smell that isnt very pleasing.

T - Pretty much follows the nose, down to the metallic taste. The hefeweizen qualities of this beer are great, but the twang of metal I get in the finish is very off-putting.

M - Light and crisp.

D - I generally love weizens but this one is definitely not my favorite. Maybe its old.. I bought it as a single and the bottle dating was rubbed off so its possible. I may try it again in the future, but this tasting didnt impress me much.
