12 oz bottle, poured into a pint glass
Appearance: Pours a pretty, clear amber color, speckled with reddish highlights, and a quarter of a finger of off-white head that quickly dissolved into a thin halo of foam that gripped the sides of the glass and formed wispy clouds that collected in the center of the top of the beer.
Aroma: Very malty and bready, with notes of caramel, black pepper, orange zest and clover.
Taste: Like the aroma, the beer is very malty and bready, like freshly baked baguettes or bagels, followed by some caramel-like sweetness, spices of black pepper and orange zest, finished by some nicely balanced hoppy bitterness. Very, very good!
Mouthfeel: Medium to slightly chewy. There’s some good carbonation to tickle the taste buds, and with an ABV of 6.6%, there is a hint of alcohol on the palate, but a pleasant hint.
Overall: Another very, solid American version of an Oktoberfest beer. Very, very good! Great balance between malt, sweet and bitter. Certainly another beer to add to my Oktoberfest rotation!
