Hard pour into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass, while listening to the Kanye mix on pandora... cause nothing screams Oktoberfest like Chicago hip-hop.
A - Light amber body with a nice fluffy slightly tan head. Good retention with little lacing.
S - Fantastic herbal hop aroma with plenty of rich caramel and dark fruit notes from the caramel malt. The yeast leaves nothing but sulfur lingering in the aroma. Textbook.
T - Rich plum and raisin really dominates in the mouth, with little grainy flavors imparted from the malts. Nice cooling herbal flavors (not really mint, but something like that...) and spice are contributed by the hops, with a bitterness that just barely balances. Incredibly clean finish, with light prickly alcohol lingering and light cooling herbs.
M - Body strikes me as being on the fuller side for the style, quenching, but with some weight. Has enough carbonation to clean up some duck sausage.
D - The only complaint I could think of is that the dark fruits seem to take over the alt flavors in the rich example of an Oktoberfest-style beer. Fantastic otherwise all around. One of the best examples of its style I have ever enjoyed.
