12oz bottle poured into pint glass
A: Dark as the night and an appearance that boasts a nice viscosity. Nearly 100% opaque with a crimson glow at the base of my glass; Beautiful creamy beige (hah) head with strong retention, can’t assess the level of carbonation (its nitro so… it must be minimal/non-existent)
S: Coffee upfront, sweet aroma. Pungent roasted malts with sweet toffee and hints of caramel, a bit of cola or syrupy scent. Slightly dry smelling sweetness from maple or dark aged wood.
T: Sweet and balanced with flavors of roasted malts with coffee that exchange pleasantly with a creamier milk touch. Very very subdued hop bitters tailing off the mocha-coffee flare. Milk chocolate melt on your tongue robust candy character, the whole tasting experience is dominated by the caramelized sugars that have faint butterscotch/werther’s-original notes. No booziness, very mild, milkshake feel
M: Full body for sure – thick and creamy that feels like it melts in the mouth. The after-taste is akin to chocolate milk and is quite sweet. Oily-smoothness that brings a hearty punch. Velvet.
O: I think this is fantastic, and definitely on the sweet side. Seems more like a dessert beer – most likely pairs with baked goods or other candied items. This really epitomizes what I think of ’Milk Stout’.
This is a must try for anyone seeking a delicious stout and has a bit of a sweet tooth. I will certainly drink this again.
