I've really been loving what Left Hand has been doing lately, so I decided to try one of their staple brews. Bottled on 1/24/11
Appearance is what a stout should be. Dark, almost pitch black but brown around the edges with moderate carbonation.
Smell is great. Malty, sweet and almost like a dark chocolate aroma.
Taste is also great. It builds on the sweet smell with notes of smokey, malty sweetness. Tail is a milky, smokey taste that is lovely. Carbonation works well with the taste, doesn't overpower it.
Mouthfeel is the only thing I want more out of. It almost feels light the whole way around. I'd like it to be more full. Maybe something for me to look forward to in an imperial stout from Left Hand?
This is a very drinkable, well made brew. I'll definitely be getting it again!
