This review is for the nitro bottled version. My ratings are based on this tasting

Appearance starts with a cool nitrogen effect on the head, with lots of bubbles streaming to form the tan, creamy head of a couple of fingers. The beer itself is black and opaque. Both retention and lacing are excellent, with the head left coating the glass all-around.

Aromas are of dark, roasted malts, slightly sweet, with some vanilla smells as well.

Taste is of sweet and dark malts, with a milk chocolate flavoring. This is balanced by some coffee-like bitterness.

Mouthfeel is crazy smooth and creamy; luscious. Carbonation is low (I guess this is the nitrogen affect vs regular carbonation). Finishes lightly sweet but balanced with hop and coffee/roast bitterness.

Overall I'd say I enjoyed this much better than the standard CO2 offering. The nitrogen really made a positive impact on the appearance and feel of this stout.

Thanks to Craig for this one!

Color is black and mostly opaque, save some ruby highlights. Head is tan and a finger high, with good lacing and retention.

Aromas are of coffee and dark, sweet chocolates.

Taste features a coffee-like bitterness of roasted malt, but is balanced by the sweetness of lactose. Other flavors include vanilla and some smoked character.

Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with a medium amount of body. Carbonation is moderate. The finish has the sweetness and toasted grain bitterness playing against one other.

Overall an enjoyable stout from Left Hand.

Thanks to Craig for this one!

12oz bottle poured into a stout glass.

Pours nice and black, with little head that dissipates quickly.

Smells like sweet cream. Hint of coffee/toffee.

Tastes great. Creamy texture with a good amount of sweetness, but not overpowering. Subtle vanilla taste at first that is more noticeable on the finish. Slight coffee taste. I detect some slight spices, but don't know where that could be coming from.

Overall a very good beer. Bought a six pack of this and I'm looking forward to seeing how this tastes in a few months.
