12oz nitro bottle, bottled on 4/5/12m, poured (with a hard pour as suggested on the bottle) into a pint glass
A: Virtually pitch black, with a one-finger tan head that slowly formed and is lingering. Interesting to see the carbonation originally heading a a downward direction as the head formed.
S: Black coffee beans, roasted malt, and hints of cream and cocoa.
T: Bitter & dark. Coffee flavors, but very thin.
M: Light-bodied, much thinner than I anticipated, with a bitter finish. Smooth, but not what I expected.
O: This was a bit of a disappointment. I will say the bottle says keep refrigerated and this was picked up on the shelf at room temperature at my local shop, so that may have been a bit of a detriment. While the appearance/aromas impressed me, it failed to follow through on the taste/mouthfeel. I would be interested in tasting one on tap.

Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro.

Poured from 12oz bottle into my Cuvee Des Jacobin Rouge tulip.

Live Review.

A: Pours a pitch black with no head at first, slowly the very small bubbles start the "waterfall" effect to the top, settling into about 1/2" thick cap. Leaves some light lacing on each sip. Looks good.

S: Eh, not nearly as good as the appearance leads you on to believe. Very one dimensional towards roast, with hints of chocolate and a very slight sweetness behind all of it. Good, but not wowing, in any sense.

T: Better than the aroma. Coffee, chocolate, roast, earthy, hints of peanuts behind all of the main components. Slightly sweet. Bitterness offsets the sweetness extremely well. ABV isn't noticeable.

M: Creamy, thick, almost chewy. Fine carbonation doesn't detract from the body at all. Finishes long and creamy.

O: Solid. I'd drink this again, but whether I'd buy it or not, that would depend on what else was available.

Poured into a nonic pint glass from a bottle. Midnight brown with a finger length of tan head. Nice lacing. Aroma is roasted barley, caramel malt, and a light woodiness. Taste is coffee, caramel, toasted grains, and sweet cream. Mouthfeel is thin to medium and lingers a bit on the roof of your mouth. Top notch milk stout.

Nitro Bottle

Pours a near black color with brown highlights. Used a vertical pour to get the awesome cascading effect which was spot on. Once the cascading stopped, the mocha colored head was thick and creamy; settled into a huge cap. Beauty.

The aroma is of light roast and bitter chocolate. It has some wet bark notes that gives the stout a nice earthy aroma. There is some caramel sweetness as well. Real nice aroma.

The taste is of light roast and caramel malt. Some weak coffee notes as well. Kinda tastes like a watered down caramel mochachino. There is some bark flavors as well. Real nice stout here, its sweet but does have enough earthy flavors.

The feel is moderate, almost light with soft carbonation. The texture is very smooth and creamy. Sweet and slightly bitter on the palate.

This is a really good stout. Doesn't have the depth of the big boys but has nice flavors and is incredibly smooth.
