It's a cool evening, why not break out a smoked porter?
2006 750mL bottle listed at 10.2%, into a mug. Clinging tan foam that billows at first, and settles with a frothy surface. Utterly black, no light coming through. Smoldering embers in the aroma, subdued campfire smoke. Definitely woody, with a caramel undertone.
Rich, earthy smoked malts, bittersweet chocolate and tobacco. Long dry aftertaste. Creamy feel, nice heft to the body. It really makes you want to slow down and savor it. Leagues above the Stone I had awhile back, but around 3x the price...
