Had on tap at mellow mushroom in Johnson City, TN
Arrived a clear very dark brown with just a tiny bit of a head.
Aroma was very smoky and much like a campfire. Maybe a touch of coffee but smoke was overwhelmingly predominant.
The flavor was, once again, smoke and lots of it. Although I will say it wasn't as smoky as the Schlenkerla beers I have had. Some bacon and molasses along with burnt sugar. Quite a bit of roasted malt as well. The one big drawback was the watery mouthfeel.
Overall, a decent beer that I have been wanting to try for a long time. While it is a pretty good beer, it still can't come close to the German rauchbiers that I love.

a - poured a one finger thick creamy, coffee-colored head into a snifter that left a thick ring throughout. the body was dark brown, bordering on black.
s - light smoke and peaty aroma.
t - smoky and spicy with a finish of roasted chocolate as it warms.
m - creamy and medium.
o - one of, if not, the best smoked beers i've ever had.
