Left Hand Brewing 400 Pound Monkey is malty, metallic, and bready.
It poured light straw, the color of a lager, with a short white head. One slight thin rings of lace clung to the top of the glass. The flavor was extremely malty sweet, in the manner of an English Ale, with a long-lingering metallic after-taste. The feel was very thick, chewy, and bready, with a surprising amount of bitterness following the malty flavor.
400 Pound Monkey has the look and flavor of a Maibock followed by the the feel of an IPA. It's too bland and metallic to recommend, but has a pretty good mouthfeel that makes it an enjoyable, if not remarkable, experience.
