APPEARANCE: Orange-ish yellow and crystal clear. A big, fluffy, light looking, stark white head rested on top after an aggressive pour. The head had some staying power and did not move much in the first several minutes after it was poured. This is another lively one from Left Hand.
SMELL: There is a lot more of a citrusy aroma than I expected for an English-style IPA. Lemon is the predominant smell here, but pleasant grassy and piney notes creep in around the edges. Nice aroma.
TASTE: A creamy, sweet, malty flavor leads off, but the beer bitters and dries out a touch towards the end. Lemon and of citrus are the lead hops, but this is one of the least hoppy IPAs I have tasted. That said, the hops flavor does build as the beer warms and the glass empties.
MOUTHFEEL: Creamy and smooth. Despite the big fluffy head and the hundreds of bubbles sprinting up from the bottom of the glass, the 400 Pound Monkey does not have much sparkle.
OVERALL: Again, this is a decent example of the style from Left Hand, but a little underwhelming in my opinion. This is an outstanding IPA for people who don’t like IPAs.

Appearance - Golden with a slight brown
Smell- Malty with a slight hop note
Taste- Strong malt at first giving way to hops. Very good example of an english IPA
Mouthfeel- Could be a bit smoother slight bite and a little thick
Overall- I love this IPA! Drank it out of a bottle for years but on tap is the way to go.
Serving type: on-tap
