Served on-tap, tulip glass.

One finger of fine brown foam head with good lacing. Dark, almost black, body.
Aroma of coffee.
Taste is bitter coffee, reminds me of dad's Maxwell House that would hold up a spoon before the spoon dissolved.
Mouthfeel - The bitterness is, at first, overwhelming, but subsides, leaving a tart tongue. The malts overtake the coffee flavor.
Overall - I'm glad that I tried it, but doubt that I will have another. It was good, but brought back memories of campfire coffee.

This beer was the first growler fill in the history of Strange Brew Tavern in Allentown. Congrats to Scott and the staff for adding this new dimension to an already great craft beer bar.

An aggressive pour from the newly opened growler yielded only about a half finger of beige head on top of the deep, dark brown liquid. The smell is reminiscent of placing one’s nose inside a bag of freshly ground coffee.

The flavor profile does not yield a taste of added coffee; rather it tastes like coffee GROUNDS were added! In case anyone thinks that’s a bad thing, I will state unequivocally that it was exceptional. Of course, one probably needs to be a coffee addict like me to appreciate such an upfront blast of coffee goodness.

The finish is bitter, but the bitterness is more from the coffee flavor than from roasted malt or hops. While the roast profile could stand to be a bit more robust, this one-off beer has good body and true to advertised coffee flavor.
