Pours a dark cola colour with minimal head. What little head there is, though, leaves good lacing as I drink.

The smell is creamy, almost sweet but not quite. I pick up notes of burnt chocolate and a bit of coffee.

This beer tastes fairly similar to how it smells. Burnt coffee, dark chocolate, and just a hint of sweet cream. This is where you notice the smoky little pepper zip on the back end.

As aforementioned, there is that little zip to compliment a fairly creamy brew. I like it. The pepper makes it's presence known, but subtly. Worth checking out.

The beer comes in a dark brown/black color.

The aroma has tons of roasted malt and coffee.

The flavor follows with a roasted malt, loads of coffee, and then this rye spiciness on the finish. Some toffee sweetness in the middle.

The mouthfeel is medium.

The rye is a bit in this well made porter like beer.

o- This is the first peppered beer besides Prairie bomb that works for me. I could enjoy a couple of these before moving on.

Slow rising and fast falling tan foamy head. Brew is light black. No lacing to speak of.

Chalky, lots of coffee, and milk chocolate.

Thin, watery, missing much complexity. For being a "pepper porter", I'm not picking up on any pepper other than extremely faint backend hints. Awkward high carbonation and funky chalky/dry bitterness. lots of weird chocolate flavors.

Not sure I can recommend as compared to the others in the series... Lefthand can surely do better.
