Brewed in the spirit of what Jamestown’s settlers awaited most when Captain Newport returned to Virginia with the first supply in early 1608! Dry-hopped with Centennial & Amarillo, citrus aromas are blended with a classic English Mild malt character to create a new American twist on an old English style.

On tap at brewery:
Pours an auburn/chestnut color, leaning a little amber with light from behind. Stark white shock of head adorns the brew, not quite soapy. Lacing is heavy early.
Nose is wet grain with a little meadow-like floral note - perhaps from the dry-hopping.
Taste is similar to the nose, that brew day smell presses its way into the taste. Soaked cereal and maybe a little cardboard In there, there is an earthy to light woody bitterness attempting to counter it. The feel is watery, but that's basically expected. Everything in the taste also seems "watered" - wet cereal/grain, a bit of wet deep forest notes in the bitterness. I feel there's a caramel note deep down that stays quashed by the grain and bitter notes.
Not a style I know much of, and I think dry hopping it may be crossing style lines (session bitter?). This does remind me of an English bitter of sorts, but definitely with an American slant.
