Bursting with pungent American hops, with aromas of peach, mango, and passion fruit. Juice Box is brewed with over 4 pounds of hops per barrel, but the mellow bitterness and soft mouth feel makes this DIPA dangerously drinkable!

Had 2. Maybe from a bad batch. Don't know how old. Great Notion is among the best breweries doing NEIPA's but I don't know what happened here. My vocabulary is limited when reviewing beers, but I know what makes a great NEIPA and I wasn't impressed with this one. Just didn't taste like an exceptional NEIPA. If I see it again I will try it again because this did not live up to it's Beer Advocate or Untappd scores...so it's gotta be a fluke. But I can't give this a 4.3 or 4.4, those scores are reserved for exceptional beers and this was average.

Canned 1/27/23. “Drink inside the box” stamped on the side of the can

Well less than a week having the “session version” of this beer courtesy of Snaotheus, I’ve found the OG, a long time want of mine. I quite enjoyed last week’s Juice Jr, so I have pretty high hopes for this one. Let’s crack it open and find out what it’s all about

Pours a hazy pale gold with 3 fingers of soapy off white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves decent lacing

The nose is juicy but also shows a pretty decent bitterness. I’m picking up on aromas of papaya, orange zest, bready malt, peppery hops, pineapple juice, grass, lime zest, and light mango

In taste it’s also nicely balanced, bold and fruity but also a bit bitter. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting orange zest, mango juice, papaya, bready malt, grassy hops, pineapple juice, pine, and light white pepper. The swallow brings notes of white peach, crackery malt, peppery hops, orange zest, papaya, pineapple juice, dank weed, and light mango

A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a crisp beer. Finishes mostly dry with a firm bitterness, but drinks much lighter than 8.2%

This one was also damn good. Despite its age, it seems rather fresh still

Hazy bright yellow pour with a finger of white foam. Big cornucopia of ripe tropical and citrus with a gentle hop finish for the nose. Taste is the same set up but here I can more easily pick out super ripe papaya, mango, pineapple with orange and lime. Feel is juicy and full, so smooth, hops on finish are gentle feeling too but a little more assertive than in smell or taste. This is a good example of GN's very fine ipa craftsmanship

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass

A: Pours hazy golden yellow amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and leaves plenty of beautiful lacing.

S: Zesty citrus, spicy pine, slightly dank grassy herbal notes, a little underlying tropical and stone fruit, faint floral notes, biscuity malt, and a touch of honey sweetness.

T: A lot happening right up front, spicy pine and zesty citrus, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, and lime, faintly dank grassy herbal notes, what I can only describe as a hint of Southern Hem diesel, underlying fruity notes, underripe pineapple, papaya, mango, apricot, peach, passion fruit, and faint guava, touch of bubble gum, biscuity malt, and a little honey sweetness, with a little alcohol poking through at times.

M: A little on the fuller side of medium body, moderately lively carbonation, a little hop burn.

O: I've been wanting to try this for a while so when I saw some cans hit my area I snapped some up. After all that excitement I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little disappointed. It's definitely more aggressive than I was expecting, which I normally don't have a problem with, but at 8.2% it drinks more like it's at least in the 9%+ range. I was a big fan of Juice Jr, but this one doesn't feel nearly as balanced. I'll definitely look to retry if I can.

16oz can dated 1/27/23.

Pours cloudy gold with two inches of dense white head. Persistent retention with plenty of spongy lacing. Tangerine, lemon-lime, grapefruit, green onion, and pineapple skin in the nose. Medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel. Papaya, mango, orange zest, grapefruit, and faint garlic on the palate. Finishes juicy with minimal malt or bitterness.

The beer is orange color. Foam is coarse and rich, fluffy, lacing on glass. It smells like wet orange juice, lemon zest with a little hint of mango nose, in overall it does smell like juice box. The beer is medium sweet, lightly tart, lightly bitter at the back, with some soft (pungent) hops stings. The beer is full bodied, it’s a bit sticky in mouth. The beer shows sweet juice aromas in mouth, shows orange juice, lemon peel, mango nectar, tangerine juice aromas. I have the JB Box for couple of times over years, my impression of this beer is not Great Notion’s best. It is quite sweet, and lacks the smell and aromas for a good hazy DIPA. I think this can doesn’t change my opinion of this beer, it’s too sweet and less layered.

Purchased at Mid Columbia Wine and Spirits. Canned 1/27/23.

This is a lovely beer looking beer. Color is a bright yellow orange that really pops against white fluffy head. The aroma is its weakness. Just doesn’t smack you in the face upon opening the can. The juice and the pine are there, but gotta really stick your nose in. The taste is where it shines. As I said in another post. Oooooh that juice, ooooooh that hoppy piney bite on the backend, and oooh those hop burps. It really is everything I want in a west coast version of a New England IPA. But biggest gripe? $25 for a 4 pack. Very comparable (maybe better?) beers in the 15-17 dollar range. Great beer, but guessing it is a one time visit.
