Great selection of brews from all over. I was really surprised that there was such a great selection and no frills or extra BS to lure you away for what you came for... REAL GOOD BEER. Its almost like a cultural crossroads of drinking. I was standing in line with a 12pk of SN Celebration, the guy in front of me had some Mad Dog 20/20 and EJ brandy, the chick behind me had a few choice bottles of wine and then there was four frat guys arguing with one of their brothers trying to get him to buy another case of Natties Ice instead of the 4pak of Surly Wet that he wanted.. He won in the end thank god. Great place, any BA in Minneapolis should check it out.

Great store. In for a biz trip, I wanted to stock up on some local goodies. They had a huge selection, tons of singles, and very good prices, and selection of imports and other rarities, such as fantome's between $12-14. I especially appreciated that I could get lots of 12 oz bottles and get more variety for my luggage space and dollar. Single cans also. Nice folks with a good laid back vibe, I'll definitely hit this joint again!
extrachars...need to pad...hmm, the owner is apparently a dead head, bonus points there. Tons of wine and liquor as well, just overall a huge alcohol selection.

I think this is one of the very best beer stores I've been to, anywhere. It's hard to find fault, unless they had beer geeks engaging every customer in conversation, and maybe if the entire beer area was a walk in cooler.

Selection of regional beers was outstanding, and I saw many Belgians and beyond imports I have never encountered. But having a big selection of really interesting beers available as singles is a big one for me, the tourist. Beers outside the region seemed well chosen, like an excellent range of Great Divide and every New Belgium (both Colorado).

Finally, the place is clean for all the traffic, shelves perfectly organized. And I kept discovering new stacks and displays.

Zipp's is a huge, no frills store with a ton of liquor and beer

the entire back wall features coolers filled with beer, in addition to a couple aisles of dry storage, lots of good Midwestern stuff, the Surly line of course, nationwide micros, and some pretty random findings to include a range of Mexican micro bombers on sale for 2.99 and bombers of French Broad Rye Hopper, also 2.99 (seriously, what's that doing up here?), lots of stuff to choose from, singles available, also a shopping cart full of questionable bargain singles at sub-dollar prices, lots of empty teaser bottles spread around that I'll assume were consumed by store staff

the dude at the register was friendly, but floor service wasn't really found (or needed, for that matter)

lots of light in here, but gonna assume that rotation is good due to high traffic, and quality is probably fine

good stop in Minneapolis.

The Twin Cities area has a lot of impressively rated beer stores that for the most part are very inconvenient to visitors. The fact that they arent open on Sunday really amplifies that inconvenience.

With Zipp's being really close to the city centre, I find it hard to believe that travelling to the suburbs is really necessary.

They certainly have all the Surly, Flat Earth, Summit, etc that you could desire and the prices seemed like they were likely on the low-end of the scale. Single Surly cans were available as well, which is nice.

The store itself reminded me of Riley's here in Madison - it's location brings in lots of students, riff-raff and probably beer dweebs as well.

There were tons of bombers and singles of varying quality levels - not sure how they have French Broad bombers...that was pretty ridiculous.

My eyes perked up when i saw russian river bottles, but they were empty (yet for some reason displayed with all the other beer). These empties were spread throughout the store- somebody clearly knows the drill around this place.

It's cheap with a good location - if you're staying in the city, start here, you probably wont feel the need to venture out further.

Popped in here after going to Town Hall for a few beers. Very impressive liquor store.

This is a liquor store, meaning that most of the place is filled with booze but about 1/4 of the store has beer, and 1/4 of this store is a big selection. Just about anything you could imagine available in MN is available at Zipps and the prices are not bad at all. I picked up some surly, some Central waters, and some out of market foreigns that I couldn't get in MD.

Most of the beer were out as singles but that's OK with me. There was an entire wall of coolers that had various beers chilled in there as well as in six pack / 12 packs. I'm OK buying singles, usually prefer it.

I can't remember the guy's name but one of the workers took us in back and offered us a rare Ommengang sour, Zuur. I had actually already had it but I picked up some Surly 4 that he had squirreled back there. Very fun. I wanted to go back but I would have had to ship a box back to myself...and I didn't want to bother with that.

a VERY GOOD BEER STORE!

Recently ordered a keg here for a party. This is the place to go for kegs in the metro area. If it's distributed in MN, this place will have it. Upon returning the keg, I took a look around. They have a really nice selection of craft beers. There is about two eisles dedicated to craft beer with a couple of large coolers full as well. They had a really nice singles selection and even a spot in the back with some beers that were being clearanced out at really low prices. The help with the keg was great and when I was looking at the rest of the store, I was not approached by anyone, but did ask someone at the front register for a beer and he knew off the top of his head that it wasn't in yet. Overall, a very solid choice for craft beer in this area and a great place for kegs.

This is definitely a nice stop. I visited this place while in MSP for Darkness Day. I was mostly looking to scorea bunch of Surly products and check out anything else that was interesting. They definitely had a great selection with a few hundred different bottles. Plenty of Surly to be had. Also stocked up on some Tyranena. The quality was very high, too, with the Tyranena, Surly, Boulevard, and some good Belgians. The service was pretty much what you'd expect from a liquor store. No one asking if you need help and a stoner at the register. Definitely worth a stop to see what's available.

This is a very large liquor store. They had Odell reps doing a tasting when I was there, as this was the first week for Odells to be available in the area. I found the Kentucky Breakfast Stout and an extra Surly Four that I had been looking for. They have a massive selection and singles on a lot of the beers that they offer. I didn't shop for anything but beer, but given the size of the store and how deep their beer selection was, I can only imagine that it is equally as good for wine and spirits. Reasonably close to Stub and Herbs if you are in the area.

Stopped in here while in the Twin Cities for a wedding. Wow. Retro liquor store, but the beer shelves are front-and-center. Plenty of stuff in the coolers along the back wall. While looking for stuff not available in Chicago (Surly, Boulevard, etc), I ran into beer manager, Tyler. What followed was a tour into awesome. He pointed me to some winners and some special stuff. The rest of the staff was fun, too. If you find yourself in the area (it's near one of the cool kid neighborhoods), do make it a point to go here.

Good ol' Zipp's. This place is one of the best in the inner city. They have a huge selection of craft beers. If something new is coming into the Cities chances are Zipp's will have it first. They have a nice single bottle selection as well as a cooler filled with bombers. Nice 6 packs and 12 packs. Great belgian isle. The only problem with Zipp's is I've never been really treated great here but I've never been treated bad. It's one of those places that is so large that your sort of on your own with no personalization in the service area. The cashiers are nice nothing wrong with them but not much is ever said. The awesome selection keeps me coming back though and they have kegs on hand all the time. You can just walk in and walk out with a keg no preordering or anything like that. They also have awesome seasonal closeout sales. If you want a cheap keg they got great deals for seasonal craft beer toward the end of the season to clear out the stock.

Zipps is always an interesting experience once you park in the cramped lot and maybe have to dodge someone insisting you buy them a pint of vodka before walking in the door.

Zipps has a pretty decent layout with none of the shelving requiring you to find a ladder. The craft beer selection is pretty well isolated from the "cooler beers" and is arranged in a decent fashion.

The staff is always helpful and they are willing to break up any 4-6 pack of beer for singles for a small mark-up. This is really awesome for the beers you're hesitant on buying a whole 4-pack of. Tyler is the "beer guy" if you have any questions. They put themselves on twitter but updates are sparse and the details are not always fully revealed. Dumb.

The selection here is pretty top notch, but sometimes has a tendency to move fast just by it's location and the large number of people who traffic here.

They had some very helpful staff give me advice on different beers, and were quick to sell me Surly. They make a Surly mix pack, and even though they had none of them in they sold me the beers for the discounted price. They also had numerous beers I had never seen, and there are more beers than a Manitoban can ever imagine in their beer and liquor stores.

My one beef is that the majority of their beers are held at room temperature in full light. I know I wouldn't store beer like that for long, but the beer I did get from them in no way was spoiled.

One of my go-to stores, especially since it is right off of 94 and right by the West Bank of the U of M. Not exactly located in the best of areas though. . .

Selection is pretty good with a pretty knowledgeable staff. If the person you ask doesn't know the answer to your question, there most likely will be someone else working who does. The mixed singles selection is pretty good, which also includes Surly singles for $3. They sell mixed Surly 4 packs as well, with some of the best Surly prices around. The prices are pretty good, and I personally don't feel like the mark-up on singles is all that much. Tyler, the beer guy, keeps a twitter account that keeps customers updated on all the new arrivals, many of which do go rather fast.

Convenient location to the brewpubs and beer bars in the center of Minneapolis. No trouble finding parking on a Saturday. The beer selection in the coolers is not that impressive but there are several dedicated shelves to craft and import beer. The selection is expansive, but not the largest in the area. Some offerings I have not noticed at other stores. The employees are all friendly and helpful. I have not lived in Minneapolis for close to 20 years and after stopping by Zipp's, I am reminded why I did not last long in the city center. Between the paint-huffers not finding the Natty Ice while staring right at it, to being solicited immediately after exiting the door, I could not get to I-94 quick enough.

My first stop on my visit to Minneapolis. A very well organized store. Three solid rows of craft beer. Selections were avaialble in four/six packs or individual bottles. A large selection of Belgians also such as Cantillon, Fantome and Duvel. They also had a very large selection of jeroboams from Rogue, Stone and Samiclaus.

Great craft selections I can't get back east. Boulevard, Goose Island, New Belgium, Tyrenana. to name a few. The prices were reasonable and the service was friendly. Great place to pick up some bottles in Minneapolis.

Finally got a chance to visit this place. Fairly clean, layout was a bit eccentric. Nice selection in the cooler. Single bottles shelf was great for bombers and 750s, but the mixed sixpack section was slightly lacking. The single 12 oz bottles were a bit over-priced, namely $2.99 per bottle of Devil Made Me Do It. They did have a nice variety and carried most things that are available in the Twin Cities, including a decent selection Cantillon, ST, Boulevard Smokestacks, etc. My only qualms with the place is that prices seem to be a bit higher than other stores I've visited in the area. The good thing about this place is that it's close to other regular stops when I'm in the Cities such as Town Hall and Stub n Herbs. If I don't want to make the drive to Dennis Bros and am willing to pay a few extra bucks, this is a good stop.

Good spot. Big enough so you can be left alone to wander aimlessly, but employees aren't standoffish if you have a question (and if that guy doesn't know, he'll hollar across the store to the next guy, and so forth). Selection leaves little to be desired. i.e. I found a Bell's Expedition Stout in early January (and took all they had. heehee.).

Good keg selection, too. Esp. in the summertime.

There is a dearth of beer-friendly liquor stores in this piece of MPLS, so do your part and keep it in business.

zipp's is a great place to visit. it is easy to access from the freeway. lots of parking space with an overflow lot. great location near to other beer destinations with blue nile, acadia and town hall brewery all close by and stub and herbs just across the river. they have expanded there shelf space for more beer. with one section for american craft packs. one section for american bombers and one section for imports. also large selection of singles on the end caps if you want to just try one of something. also have a bank of refrigerators alng the back wall. they always have a great selection and some of the best prices around. though be warned that this palce is known about and some of the limited release stuff goes fast. i have never been in here without someone asking if i need help finding something or looking for anything in particular. also if you can get to talk with tyler it is well worth your time.all in all a great place.

Finally stopped by to see Tylers selection. Very impressive open floorplan, with a nice nice selection of spirits (especially specialties like Eau de Vies, Rare Scotch, and much more). The wine selection is not huge, but well done, with an awesome selection of French wines, and one of the largest Provence selections I have seen anywhere. Now to the beer, not a ton of good stuff in the coolers, considering the store size, but plenty of nice selections. The imports and domestic bombers are quite impressive with, if I remember correctly, 4 four foot section on each side 3 or four sections high. Lots of rare and unique finds to be had in this store. Another section on the back of the import and domestic singles shelf round out the selection. Two end caps housing M & M singles are more than adequate as well. Tyler and the crew have done an awesome job in here, and I look forward to stopping in sometime when Tyler is actually there. On a side note, I was asked twice if I needed help, and I fully believe they would have helped me with any questions I had.

I visited this store after leaving The Blue Nile one night which is just down the road. On first glance, I was impressed with the inviting exterior and decided to head in. The store is well lit and has a nice attached parking area so I didn't have to walk far.

This is one of the nicer and more complete beer selections I've seen in Minneapolis proper with a staff of knowledgable beer connoisseurs who are passionate about beer and appreciate fellow BA's. The service was good (they carried my purchase out for me), the store was clean and well stocked, and I left with some great brews to enjoy that were reasonably all priced.

The wine and liquor selection was impressive as well.

I am pleased to recommend this store and will be back soon.

Great place to shop when I'm driving on I94. Parking isn't hard to find.

The service has always been nice. Never had a complaint. The only reason it's not 5 is because there have been a few times employees couldn't help me find what I was looking for, which I eventually found anyways.

The selection has always been pretty good compared to most. Great craft selection as well as locals. Many of my friends swear by this place, and are willing to drive a little extra because they claim the combination of the selection, service and price is top notch.

It's about time to get some reviews done, and this is a place I've been to many times.

Its easy access off of I94 and nice amount of close parking (which is great considering I usually have a few boxes to carry out) makes this a great spot to hit.

Every visit has been great. The staff has always been very helpful and quite knowledgeable, and quick to point out new items. The selection is vast with a great amount of US craft beers to chose from. Bell's, Surly (including mixed packs)and the rest of the locals are in force here. Their Import selection is very nice with a fair amount limited items. The selection is on par with the other "great stores" in the state.

I also thought it was cool to have a display of great beers that are not in Minnesota :).

I will continue to visit this store, and if you have not been here before, you missing out.

Stopped in to pick up some stuff while in the Minneapolis area because I was told they had what I wanted. With a nice large assortment of beers, they definitely had what I was looking for, and at a good price. Their singles selection was pretty good, as was their selection of beers that were in the cooler, and the room temp section was top notch, with plenty of micros and imports along with the typical macros. One thing I did notice though was the bottles seemed a little dusty, making me wonder if the beers have been sitting for a good period, or the place is just in a really dusty area. In any case, the place was easy to find, parking was easy, service was good, and the selection was impressive.
