This Imperial Stout is brewed with hints of Warrior One coffee - an organic, shade-grown blend from Costa Rica. Through a partnership with Lycoming College and Golden Valley Farm Coffee Roasters, sales of this coffee help fund study and research opportunities in the developing world. We’re proud to offer a beer that looks and tastes great, but can also help do some good.

Solid black with an above average body. Has more carbonation than usual for the style but overall still a decent feel
Aroma is alcohol, roasted malt, dark bitter roasted black coffee, plum
Taste was dark bitter black coffee and licorice upfront followed by roasted malt and dark fruit
I thought this was an Exceptional beer that I would try again

Pours a dark mahogany with a coffee colored head.
Smells of coffee, chocolate, toasted whole grain bread, and vanilla.
Taste is bitter and sweet coffee and chocolate that is well balanced. It has notes of roasted grain and dark fruit. A well done beer.

Had on tap, nitro. The feel of this stout is wonderfully creamy, roasted and thick, let's get that right. Great oats in the taste too, with dark roast coffee, roasted malts, semi-sweet chocolate, and a touch of vanilla, well balanced. Smell is faint coffee and roasted malt, want a tad more here. Overall a solid stout

12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "BOTTLED 111918" and sampled on 031919

Notes via stream of consciousness: So this is a coffee beer? I had no idea. I'm not sure I've ever had a coffee imperial stout. OK, so, it's poured a typical stout appearance with a black body beneath a frothy head of densely creamy tan. The aroma displays some coffee but it's not that bold. It is roasty however. It's nice. It smells like a cup of black coffee at the local diner. Moving on to the flavor... the coffee is brighter and tastes more like fresh, oily coffee beans. That's wrapped in malty sweetness, and there's a pleasant nuttiness to it as well as milk chocolate. A firm bitterness runs through it, anchoring it all along the way, and then leaving it dry and roasty in the finish. In the mouth it's medium-full in body and bristling on the palate with tiny effervescent bubbles. Looking back, the head has held quite well and I still have a solid creamy cap that's maybe an eight of an inch thick. The lacing is quite good as well, earning it 4.25 out of 5. Overall this is a really nicely balanced and well brewed coffee stout. I'll have to look for more of this.
