Served on tap in a pint glass

Appearance – The beer is served a hazy golden amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head fades very fast leaving only a bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the beer is heaviest of a mix of a biscuit smell along with a good showing of some spice aromas of coriander and clove along with some aromas of a pepper nature mixed within. A slightly sweet and bitter orange peel is there as well as some floral hop notes.

Taste – The taste begins with a rather crisp bready and biscuit flavor mixed with a light orange sweetness and a little bit of a grapefruit hop flavor upfront. As the taste advances the orange fades from the tongue with the grapefruit getting stronger in nature as the flavor advances to the end. Along with a strengthening of the grapefruit also comes a developing of spice flavors of coriander and clove as well as a light yeasty and hay-like taste. While the orange upfront fades, it is later replaced by some fruity flavors of a grape and apple nature. A pine and floral hop flavor join the taste at the very end leaving a nice crisp and decently hopped and spiced flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is of average thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather average as well. For the blend of hop and crispness of the brew the feel is rather nice as it supports the hop all while keeping it more refreshing and crisp.

Overall – A pretty tasty Belgian dry hoped pale ale overall with a bit more spice bite then the norm and that is on the crisper and side. A pretty good one to at least try.

Poured into a Duvel tulip from the bottle.

A: A medium-light golden hue with a translucent, not transparent, cloudy appearance. Nice lacing lasts a while and a 1/2 finger head stays forever.

S: White peppery notes are consumed in a yeasty, bready nose. There is some mild malty notes that round it out, and, as the name implies, there are hops. Mild floral hops.

T: Sweet malts, some floral, tropical hops notes. Spicy yeast, with peppery biting notes and smoothness all around. It meshes these quite well into a very pleasant experience.

M: medium bodied and smooth, velvety finish that languishes then bursts into a slightly metallic lemon-funky finish. Unique experience.

O: This is a nice example of the style. Not overbearing in any way and very smooth and drinkable.

a. Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Yellow-golden in color - cloudy but can see through. Huge 2.5 - 3 finger head that lasts. Great lacing

s. Spices - coriander (ommegang calling card), yeast, other spices

t. HORRAY! Coriander is not overwhelming. Some grapefruit on the finish.

m. Excellent. Smooth and well carbonated.

o. Like this one a lot. Good crisp beer for a hot day. Would revisit - best Ommegang I have had.
