12 ounce bottle - $2.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a hazy, light, bright yellow body with a tall, churning, white head. Lasting head and lace deposits.

Smell: Wafting aromatics of peppery spice, a little wheat, dried pressed florals, bits of citrus peels, additional fruits -- it's a nice, well-rounded nose.

Taste: Mild maltiness, lightly sweet, barely a hint of soda cracker and wheat, and, then it's off to grape, orchard fruits, florals, juicy, tangy citrus rind. A lone drop of lavender soap. Sustained ground pepper note throughout. Fairly dry and spicy on the altogether crisp finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Well carbonated.

Overall: Drinkable, reasonably dry, and infused with a lively carbonation. An Ommegang I would cheerfully revisit.

Ommegang rarely disapoints andthis beer is no exception. Pours a hazy bright gold color with a huge, delicately bubbly white head. Head retention is excellent and there are thick rings of lace around the glass.

Aroma is pretty good, mostly lemon and Belgian yeast. There is some pepper spiciness too.

Taste is excellent. There is a good bit of yeasty flavor and some Saison barnyard funk. Citrus (especially lemon and orange peel are present and a black pepper spiciness is noticeable as well. The yeast and funkiness are prominent enough to make this a good Saison as well as a good summer beer.

The mouthfeel is rich enough for the style, but this Saison is lighter and lower in abv than many. There are certainly enough Saison aspects to please most, but this is also a good "mass quantities" summertime drink too. The yeast/funkiness are tarty and there is a refreshing crispness to the beer.

A good American take on a Saison.

Was able to snag this new release for just 2 bucks! Into a pub glass.

A - Wow uber carbonated! I got 2+ inches of head from a light pour! Beer itself looks rather hazy bright shade of yellow. Very tiny sediment flakes in the glass means this is unfiltered.
S - Actually quite timid the yeasts don't smell very strong which is nice and it has an almost apple cider like sourness to it. Very little spice it sort of smells like a Hefe.
T - Well I wasn't blow away but it was a very nice session Saison crisp yeast meets apple cider like sourness with a fruity bubble gum sweet finish. Much easier to drink than say Hennepin.
M - Far from champagne like it was uber carbonated but had the consistency of a light beer. Very sessionable.

Overall I do not prefer Saison's since they are usually very yeasty or you can taste the alcohol but this is a very well done session Saison. Simple yet effective I could see getting this again.

edit: I had to look at the label I never had "pink peppercorns" but they are mild, fruity, and blend well with beer. Please incorporate them in more saisons.

Pours into a snifter cloudy straw, an explosive white head completely fills the glass after only pouring a third of the bottle. Good retention leaves clumpy lacing. It takes a good 10 minutes to get the whole bottle into the glass.

Dominated by yeast and spices. Aroma is kind of dull. Big on lemongrass, coriander and peppery spices the yeast is a big player, it contributes a full and musty air. Hops are light and grassy.

Pale wheat is lemony with a huge contribution from the juicy orange peel and coriander, Hops are grassy and lemony enhancing the spiciness of the pink peppercorns. Finishes juicy with sweet tangerine, peppery spice and a cleaning grassy hops.

Pinching, high carbonation so active that it crackles and dances across the tongue. Medium saison body, alcohol well hidden. Dries pretty well leaving some yeast residue. Perfect summer weather beer.

Annoying head on this beer takes forever to subside but the patience is well rewarded. A very active and snappy spring saison, the peppercorns, high carbonation and hops are in sync and result in a very bright and flavorful saison.
