Pours deep red with a big three-finger head of off-white foam that retains for days. The nose is full of spices such as clove and nutmeg, but there's also a buttery quality, some plum, some fig, and a big Belgian yeast smell. It tastes like a rye ale brewed with Belgian yeast. I get a big rye bread flavor with amber malts, but also some fruity esters like plum from the yeast. There's a low level of hops on the back end and the chilies are barely perceptible. The body is silky and medium with high carbonation.

This beer is just awe-inspiring. I had heard good tales told of Ommegang and its Belgian roots, but had never had the opportunity to try any of their offerings until I saw this at my local Total Wine. I was immediately intrigued at least by the novelty of a Game of Thrones inspired beer, but when I read that it was a Belgian style red ale with a good BA score and heard that it came highly recommended by the employee doing tastings of various other beers that day I knew I had to try it. This beer looks incredible. It pours an amazing dark ruby color and formed three or four fingers of fluffy white head that passed the rim of a large glass and did not even hint at disappearing until I myself drank the beer, which left gorgeous lacing all the way down. The taste was also something truly unique as it combined the malty profile of a very flavorful red ale with the unique taste of Belgian yeast, one of my favorite things about Belgian style beers. Altogether this is a truly unique beer which looks, feels, smells, and tastes incredible. Utterly beyond comparison.
