750ml bottle into imperial pint.
A: Pours a woody deep reddish brown with a huge, airy, frothy and thick light tan cream colored head that I finally had to break down and sip because it wasn't receding. Very good head retention. Thick streaks of rocky lace were left down the glass.
S: Sweet and nutty notes of stone fruits, dried apricots, cardamon, cinnamon, chili, and earthy yeast. Dry and bready smelling with an interesting layer of spices.
T: Much sweeter than the nose led on, with flavors of sweet fruit juices, candied fruits, candied sugar, and bread crust yeast. There is a nuttiness and woodiness overall. More fruit flavors of spices pear, apricots and canned peaches come through in the finish, and I finally get some chili spice poking through in the aftertaste. It's not hot or very lingering though. Maybe a subtle tingly after a few sips.
M: Medium-full body, frothy and splashy but very soft and fluffy carbonation. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel.
O: A really solid red ale. Very complex and flavorful with various layers of sweet and spicy. Better than expected. Chili could have been slightly more prominent though.
