Bought a 75cl bottle of this delicious beer. And it had been a while since I indulged in the good things ommegang has. A moderate american yet a very tasty belgian, witte is a brilliant beer.
The pour is very dark yellow, in fact it would seemingly resemble a weizen rather than a belgian wit. the head, however, is more active and cleaner than the former, dissipating half quickly and leaving a moderate lacing along the glass. It is overall hardly translucent.
The smell is delicious. dominantly lemon-lime feel, very sour at the nose, with a mild wheaty background. this beer is clearly fruitier than it is grainy, which i love about this one.
Taste wise it is actually a very interesting and complex mi-point between a wit and a weizen, once again. Of course the belgian style dominates, since it is dryer, more acidic and wheatier overall; but it has a mild sweetness to it somewhere and that yeasty feel more akin to the german style. Subtle alcohol feel somewhere and not any hoppier than the aftermath of the lime it seems to portray. It is also more full-bodied than the average witbier, making it a proper beer for more than one season.
Overall a great finding and a renewed faith in the belgian-style americans.

Slightly hazy yellow color with a flashy carbonation and a thick two fingers head with great retention and leaving a wall of laces.
Light but nice aroma of white bread, orange, distant banana and coriander.
Predominant Belgian yeasty flavor with notes of fresh acid oranges, white bread and a lemony tartness. Dry and acid aftertaste.
Light to medium body with good carbonation and an acid feeling.
I love Ommegang, but I haven't seen on this Wit much of a difference to a Hoegaarden (ps. I haven't tasted it for a while), it is fairly assertive, nevertheless if the intention was to produce a pleasant refreshing session beer that is not not dull, mission accomplished.
